Anti-Theft Devices You Use...

Currently, they would have to finish building the TH350 on the table in the garage, put it on the jack, install it, and then figure out the tcase shifters and quirky carb. If they get that far, I'll probably come by or hear them before they're done. In which case, I will quietly hold them at gunpoint, thank them, then hog tie them in the backseat. I may decide not to leave them 150 miles from a road in the middle of the NV desert due to them finishing my tranny, but I sure as hell will scare them!

"You got a purdy mouth son, now get in the back and squeal like a pig!"

Vandalism concerns me more than anything. I had my window broken out in a nice neighborhood by some dumb highschool kids a couple years back. We took a ride and found them breaking into other vehicles a few blocks down the street. Tried to call the police, but they wouldn't show up even when the kids pulled a knife. My buddy's girlfriend wouldn't let me out of the back seat (damn suicide doors). Stupid kid pulled a knife, waved it around, and then threw it at our car. :haha: Had I been able to get out and beat the **** out of him, I would have thanked him for disarming himself.

Surprised I remembered this after 9 years.

I have 2 dummy 30-06 rounds I leave on the ground by the drivers door in crappy areas. That was in Ca. Never had an issue. Do not see a need here.

Many interesting ideas - how about just pulling the ignition or ECM fuse ?

Maybe you could leave some parts or something lying up under it to look like it's broke down. I usually have to park mine up against a wall with a brake pedal lock and and another truck parked right up behind it so no one will try to steal it. However, right now it's missing the transfer case. All potential theives can clearly see the exhaust lying on the ground under the truck and a plastic trash bag over the transmission where the t-case usually goes. I don't think anyone will mess with it, even though it's been stolen and rummaged through before. If you had to leave your truck unattended, you might could come up with some props to make it look like it won't move.

On my other truck I wired up a push on/off button underneath the shift boot. You couldn't see it, but it was there. I just pressed the button and it disabled the fuel pump. When I came back I pushed it again to turn it back on.

I had to put it in a mounting tab because I did not want to drill holes, but otherwise it was pretty simple.

The other thing I wanted to figure out was a way to lock the brake pedal down. I figured I could purchase a linear actuator and mount it under the dash, then extend it to push the brake pedal down. However, I don't know of one that I could also have attached to the brake pedal and not cause problems with normal use.

Haven't some folks upgraded their steering columns to the steel ones? Or was that for older trucks? I have a 91...

Personally, I'd like a passive immobilizer, like this:

I also found this ...

That APPEARS to be a wireless relay. You put that relay in the place of another one, and then the remote enables or disables the relay. Looks pretty damn simple. Here's the product overview:

Mines propane, you have to turn on the tank...lol, you cant see in the bed to know there in there. A little choke cable thats not a choke at all its a primer, if u pull it and leave it out it wont start and if you dont use it she wont start anyway....:D...then theres toggle switches on the dash for the lockoff and the ignition, along with the key. That would mess anyone up starting it....:haha:......good luck.

Thats not done tho for anti theft, thats just how its setup. But after all that if you dont know the truck you wont get it out of the driveway...The shepard will also get you, she hates people....lol..and loves walking around the house, she patrols the perimeter..lol
