Any Beemer gurus here? All fixed and almost road ready.

Problems resolved, moved to "Other rides" for reasons' that should be obvious.

Hey look Dean's got a lift now!

Maybe a M3 front and rear bumper one day, not sure about the side skirts. It's not like that part of the car unbolts...the 'skirt' you see is the side of the body itself. :dunno:

For now it's getting me back and forth to work and home, and is pretty fun to drive as well as being cheap on fuel.

Spent the day installing this...

Megan Racing Eurosport coilover suspension.

Adjustable ride height, adjustable damping, etc. Set the front camber to -2.5 degrees, rear was already -2 degrees. Dropped the front end 3" and the rear 1.5". Rides firmer, but not choppy or bouncy like some lower cars I've seen.

When I had the front wheels off today I noticed it has ducting aimed at the brakes on the car. That lower grill area up front is fully functional. My hat is mostly off to BMW, definitely a well built, well thought out car. Some issues, but it is an old car so even they don't count much against the car.

Also new on the car are the 16X8 rims with 225-50-16 Eagle GT's I recently picked up. Got em for $700, tires were approx 95%, pretty much zero curb rash on the rims.

Didn't notice the wheel change right away... in a rush on my phone!??:doah:

Nice! Are those factory BMW? The Old ones are 15x7s?? Great upgrade!
Awesome Father's Day road race style! Love it! :thumb::pimp:

Yeah, the old were style 32's, not sure what the new are, but they are factory rims. I think the E36's with the sport suspension got these.

Was a good Father's day, spent working on my car putting cool new sh1t on it.

I have a couple of other things to do up front, then I'll bring it in for an alignment. Still need to get new control arms/balljoints...and the lollipop bushings they mount to. The car tracks straight, steering wheel is straight, but return to center is a lot less 'there' than it was. I suspect it now has less caster than it did before. I'm no even sure if that can be adjusted. It's not bad, just a different feel. I'm more used to the wheel snapping back to straight coming out of a turn...

It's amazing how much better they look with just a little low. :waytogo:

Those upper plates are only adjustable for camber, right? I wonder if you can redrill holes in the strut tower to lean them back a bit for more caster. Have you checked any BMW forums?

I may upgrade to better camber plates from Vorslag or Turner down the road.

I have a few more bits up front that need replacing still, LCA's with balljoints and probably TRE's. It goes down the road just fine, but with new parts I can get it aligned professionally. My current guess is not enough caster, and a bit too much toe in.

You will continue to find this. There are very few things that make me mad on these cars.

About to turn 190k on my E34 (95 540i).

Be nice to it, and it will treat you well.

Just so you know, I'm one of the two engineers at Vorshlag. :waytogo:

Sorry, no price hookups (company policy), but I can help guide you or give you any tech help you need.

And you are right about the caster. The E36 and E46 can use as much as you can give it.
