on a leaf spring front end?

my front suspension is so soft, my axle is moving back and forth causing my front driveline to pull out of the slip shaft.

Im going to tie it together with some sort of ladder bar/ three link, im hoping i can see some pictures of some done?

Ive got a 10 bolt front, 10" springs, 3" shackle.

Search in the garage, there are some panhard threads there.

And if you decide to link the front, you won't want to use leaves for springs.

Well, I looked, didn't really find what I'm after. I'm just looking to throw a bar between my frame and axle to keep it from going forward/back on me.

And Avery, not sure what my springs are, got them used, but they flex like CRAZY!

This company had a front ladder bar setup that attached between the frame right behind the front bumper. I was going to put one on my mud truck to help with axle wrap. You'll have to contact them because i can't find it on their web site anymore. Jason

How do you think your axle is moving front to back?

If your axle is moving front to back, your u-bolts are loose.

Otherwise, your shaft is falling out due to the increased distance between the t-case and pinion yokes when the passenger side droops. The fix for this is to get a longer shaft and/or one with more slip.

Well, I talked to Kurt at DIY, good guy. seems to think a longer driveline slip would be better off.

My axle/spring is moving. U bolts arent loose, I have that much flex in my front suspension. as I reverse, if the front tires encounter anything, then it pulls the driveline apart. you may think it is too short, but i actually had to cut 1" out of the tube because it kept compressing and snapping my 205's off.

You definitely need more slip in your driveshaft.

I was going to go that route, but I heard they bind up if your into the throttle, because there's only 4 points to catch on. have you run them much?

I've beat on mine pretty hard for a year and a half and haven't broken anything yet.

I've heard people talk about square shafts binding under throttle, I've never seen anyone break a t-case or adapter because of it (and I've wheeled with a LOT of rigs with square shafts).

Think of it as a 4 spline slip shaft ;)

saw your post and understand your problem i have a set of 6" springs that are modified and equally soft which induces axle wrap. i think that's what your talking about, any ways i don't think you need a three link you could use a two bar set up from the front to eliminate your axle movement and retain your wicked flex. i have thought about a set up similar to what some of th tj lift kits use where one bar goes axle to frame and the other bar goes axle to previous bar. hope this helps. ive seen similar setups on leaf spring rears kinda like a centered ladder bar. if you do this do not put it behind the front axle as i am sure you realise that will mess up you spring movement. good luck!

i think either way would work, but with one bar going to your link instead of the frame in a y shape youmight be able to get more travel out of your suspension with less to contact frame when flexed, plus less fabwork on frame itself. it all depends on where you can fit it at.

then after you get your axle wrap solve you could take apart spring pack an put in 1/8 aluminum spacers between springs and remove some of the short springs for even more flex.

....

Well I dont know whatthehell is going on anymore. Ive snapped 205 adapter #4 off in two months. I thought i fixed this problem by shortening the driveline. This is ridiculous. No one Ive talked to has ever heard of this.

so now, not only is the shaft too short, somehow my tcases keep breaking off my 4 speed.

Isnt axle wrap when the axle twists, causing the pinion yolk to move up or down?
I dont see how that could be the cause of this. But at this point I dont know much.

Im thinking im going to go to a divorced tcase, to give myself a longer front driveline and better angle on it. my front driveline is only about 20" long.

i believe np205s all have a place on the side to position a 2nd mount to the frame with an L shaped bracket to help stabalize the tcase. i am assuming this is a 10 spline half ton case with maybe an sm465? it would be a good idea to move it back especially with a 10 inch spring but you might look into a reduction case to get your length in stead of divorced. ord or klunev ibelieve both sell setups for the figure eight pattern. hope this helps sorry to here about your destruction. good luck

Wow I hate to be all pirate4x4 like on this but perhaps you should rethink your 10in of lift with 44's on a 10b :surepal:.

If your axle literally moves forward when you go in reverse you might wanna start checking for cracked springs, and beat to **** bushings. As said your driveshaft isnt long enough. The fact that you trimmed itdoesnt mean anything. It still needs to be longer but it needs more slip and to be redesigned.
