Any ideas how to get this adhesive off my dash?

This will work too. You might need a new dash pad when you are done if you're not careful :haha:

I keep gallons of it for all the gel work I do.. basically it's styrene.. nasty stuff, I do every thing I can to keep it off my skin...

Looks like someone glued velcro strips onto it at some point. I tried brake clean and wd40 and they didnt work.

Sorry im trying to get use to the whole forum world idk if anybody suggested this but Gugone/googone should work. Maybe

Looks like it might have been Gorilla Glue or Super Glue?...Fingernail polish remover works on Super Glue, but unfortunately most dash plastics dont get along well with strong solvents like acetone,toluene,etc...that Aircraft paint stripper might work--but it might eat a hole in the dash also..proceed with caution!..

I had two spots on my trucks dash like that ,someone had glued velcro to it to hold something to the dash...it resisted everything as far as solvent I tried on it,I ended up picking at it like a scab with my thumbnail for awhile and scraped it with a single edged razor blade, and eventually got it to all flake off..with no damage..

Fingernail polish remover also does not work. I'll just scrape it off with a razor bladeas bbest as possible and live with it. Its still miles ahead of my old one!

You might try hitting it with a heat gun lightly if scraping it at ambient temp don't work. If not, going the other way with dry ice might help. Works on chewing gum pretty well. Makes it brittle and flakes off easier.

I might have to try that. I just worry that it will generate so much heat that it might damage the pad. Also I'm worried about it scuffing really bad when I slip off the adhesive.

ain't gonna work on that... best bet really is to mechanical pick at it to remove as much as possible, than go after it chemically... and really the chemicals wont be softening/eating the glue as much as getting under it to seperate it from the vinyl...

Yep. I think i'll get after it with a sctochbrite rollock to start, swtich to the goof off, and live with however good it gets. Like i say, it will still be miles ahead of my old one!

You could always stick a new compass or hula girl or whatever was on there back over it :thumb:
