I just had a guy email me with a

"I have a 1979 Desert fox edition of the GMC Jimmy. This truck runs and drives. It has factory spoke wheels and brush gards. It also has a Sidewinder winch. (not sure if it works ). The truck has a 350 engine and new mud tires. Are you interested?"

Ive never heard of such a thing, and google wasnt any help.

but i asked him for photos and will post them up when I get 'em.

That's wild - no pun intended. The roof rack is exactly the same on my '72

Sorry, it's not ringing any bells. I turned 20 back in June so maybe I just missed it. :dunno:

Kids these days. My new BIL had never seen or heard of Smokey and the Bandit. WTF?

Sheeeeit. It was off the air, umm, like six years before your father's eye was gleaming. :doah:

But that's no excuse! Everyone should remember Erik Estrada and his too-tight pants... :haha:

I loved how Ponch and John worked Central LA, from the beach to the desert. They went to everything and never took a report...:D

ahhh, smokey & the bandit has to be burt reynolds best flick, w/stroker ace coming in a close 2nd! that black T/A burt drove has to be the single most desired car by men as a whole! who wouldn't want 1...theres a guy local who has an original smokey & the bandit T/A...apparently gm offered a bandit clone optioned car...just like the T/A in the movie down to the cb!

i would jump on that dessert fox k5 quick, if its for sale & restore it...it has to be fastly approaching collector status, since they have such low production #'s. i remember the truck from CHiPs...it was a dessert fox edition? i remember it was gold or tan w/wild brightly colored stipes on it... i just bought 1 of those hickey roof racks from another member..cant wait to get back on my projects...that rack will be unique around here.
