You can do it............I think /forums/images/graemlins/whistling.gif

You could always park the truck at the bottom of a driveway that goes up, that would make the blazer lower, so you wouldnt have to lift it as high.

Re: Anyone ever LIFT a d60 into the back of a blazer with 6 inches of lift?

Seems like it'd be worth a few bucks to rent an engine hoist - or for that matter, rent a truck with a liftgate. That way you won't scratch up your nice paint job or crack your flawless driveway /forums/images/graemlins/histerical.gif

I hope this turns out OK for you...keep us posted /forums/images/graemlins/whistling.gif

Re: Anyone ever LIFT a d60 into the back of a blazer with 6 inches of lift?

Just some of that useless knowledge, but a low-pinion GM D60 fully loaded weighs in at about #620, ask me how I know /forums/images/graemlins/doah.gif /forums/images/graemlins/doah.gif /forums/images/graemlins/doah.gif

The last two I moved, the first took 4 normal sized guys to load in the back of a Nissan pickup, but it was loaded with crossover, MOO covers and all the bells.

The second was just a stock D60 and it was loaded with a forklift at forward air and unloaded with an engine hoist, I learned my lesson the first time /forums/images/graemlins/whistling.gif /forums/images/graemlins/whistling.gif

Re: Anyone ever LIFT a d60 into the back of a blazer with 6 inches of lift?

F it all
Here are a few simple ideas
1. I agree break it down as much as ya can
2. take the top off the balzer first
Or not at least take the back seat out
put down a big sheet of ply wood or scarp wood or at least carb board to protect your bed & gate
2.5 now if ya still cant load it then here is the next step invest a measly 20.00 and get a come along
3. get some long pieces of strong wood or since your a plummer some good 1.5 or lager pipe would be greast also the longer the better
its called leverage same way they built the pyramid's
GEt one end on the tail gate (yes it will hold it espically if your straps are good and ya use the plywood floor) the outher end on the ground and pull & push the monster in using the come along and the planks
The front seat Passenger side makes a good ancjhor point for the come along then just use rope or chain to make it long enough and it will go right in
Best of luck guys hope nobody getts hurt

they weigh that much? I thought it was closer to 500 lbs. /forums/images/graemlins/eek.gif

Re: Anyone ever LIFT a d60 into the back of a blazer with 6 inches of lift?

i've done it, with a car port (or tree i guess) hook one end of a tow strao upto the tow hitch, the other end over a pulley or branch then down to the axle, drive, it will lift it, then tie a support rope or what ever to hold it there while you do the rear, i did a 14FF and a d60 into my k5 with 6 inches of lift this way /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif

Just get one of your huge friends (Myself) to carry it home. 650lb???? Thats warm up bench press... /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif /forums/images/graemlins/peace.gif

When I bought my 14 bolt ff, it was just me and the guy I bought it from (both of us about 160 lbs.) and had to get it into my blazer... We used everything at our disposal...hi-lift, 5 gallon buckets, cinder blocks, another hi-lift...we almost killed our selves in the process but we DID get it into into my blazer

-Good luck! /forums/images/graemlins/screwy.gif

Re: Anyone ever LIFT a d60 into the back of a blazer with 6 inches of lift?

I unloaded my complete D60 out of the back of a Dodge 3500 4x4 by myself (where are friends when you need them?!?!) and it was a B!TCH. I did it but it was NOT fun and I was a bit sore the next day

I may be overreacting, i just dont want anyone to get hurt, and or damadge eqipment /forums/images/graemlins/thinking.gif

I believe in the work smarter, not harder theory.

I used a trailer and an engine hoist. They are close to 800lbs complete.

Definately one end at a time if you are going to try to lift it manualy. And watch the tailgate... I would bet it would break the straps.

60s are heavier than a 14 bolt.

[/ QUOTE ] thats what i though too /forums/images/graemlins/whistling.gif thats almost 265 pounds per man, at a not so perfect deadlift position.

I cant beleive no ones said this one yet........put wheels and tires onto the 60,and roll the [censored] up a trailer /forums/images/graemlins/histerical.gif

I loaded a 1 ton 14b (the big drums) into the back of a stock 90's Chevy stepside by myself. With no tools, jacks, lifts, hoists, lever etc. Lifted one end onto the bed. The went around and picked the other end up and slid it the rest of the way in. I almost blew a gasket, but I did do it. I could probably do it with a 60 too. I won't though. Ever. lol, Thats what the John Deere is for.
