anyone have bad gas mpg as me?

With the leaky Edelbrock 1407 on my Blazer I got 10MPG or so.. this carb was too big for my engine so it ran horribly rich and splattered fuel down the exhaust and had a horrible afterburn when compression braking.

Not sure about the Quadrajet yet.. though I will say that it definitely doesn't run rich anymore except when cold, and the afterburn is virtually non existant. This one just leaks gas all over itself

If you are TBI you should be doing better than that. I get 15 Hwy in my TBI 87 K5 305 700r4 33" tires and 3.08 gears on 87 octane. Dual exhaust and no cats. I average 10 Mpg in city stop and go!

Sounds like you are lead foot or have problems!

Not sure how much i got when mine was running but i'm guessing anywhere from 10-12. That was with a 350/465 3:73's and 35's. I have a 305 in it right now and it got alot better gas mileage. It gets real good now sitting in my dad's garage. :D

You should be gettin atleast 14 IMO

82 k5 350/700/208/3.08/33x12.5.

my current engine gets 10-15. if i get open highway and keep my rpms down around 2000, i can squeeze out 17, but that's really rare.

side note: my mpg is better since i removed the smog pump.

I plan on getting some of this to try and see how it works.

Save Fuel With PRI- Guaranteed!
It's true! With PRI-D for diesel or PRI-G for gasoline, you will achieve the same fuel savings experienced by our industrial clients! Documented, long-term fleet field studies of PRI application on hundreds of vehicles confirm an average fuel economy improvement of 8.8 percent, with individual savings ranging from 5-to-15 percent and more! Even on the cleanest, laboratory engine, burning the USA's cleanest California Air Resources Board mandated fuel, results of the CARB-EPA 13 mode emissions test confirm afuel economy improvement of 4.7%.

How? First, the unique thermal stability capabilities of PRI produce more energy value per unit of fuel. Secondly, PRIkeeps engines and fuel systems cleaner - operating closer to the original design specification. Fuel injectors provide optimum spray patterns. Fuel delivery systems remain deposit-free. Your engine runs better than ever.

That's right. If you are not completely satisfied with the performance of PRI-G for gasoline or PRI-D for diesel, we will cheerfully refund your purchase - no questions asked (see bottle label for details).

its that one i hope its not that big of a problem :doah:

are you doing mostly in-town driving? or do you get out on the highway?

either way, you need gears, badly.. your gonna nuke that tranny... install a tranny cooler too. I can't imagine your seeing overdrive often.

all that said, if your getting out on the highway at all, that mileage is still horrible.. my stock tbi, 700r4, 3.73's and 32's consistently gets 15 to 18.. any tbi 700 combo should be getting 12 to 13, minimum... unless your constantly on the loud pedal....... check for codes...

in my 78' I get about 8mpg 10mpg if i drive nicley, in town and about 12 to 13 highway. but i got 4.56 gears and only a 33 inch tire.

I got ~13 last time I checked on my 383. Thats a mix of a little wheelin, highway, city, and playing with the new motor. I have 4" lift 3.42 gears and 35s.

91 V10 Blazer, TBI 350, 4L60, 4.56 gears with 33's. I get a consistent 10-11 MPG. City or highway doesn't matter much.

My fix is a 6.2 diesel and taller tires (to get the RPM down).

'86 K5 700R4 350 raised intake and 670 truck avenger 3.73 gears 33X12.5R15's

I get 8 mpg in town and about 12 mpg hyway... it sucks i wish it ran on piss haha!

Well, i logged my mileage all last year knowing i was going to be installing a new engine and wanting to compare old versus new engine mileage. I rarely drive the freeway. I mainly drive back and forth to work and maybe an occassional 30 miles on the freeway on a tank of fuel. I averaged 8.3 mpg between 1/28/07 - 12/14/07. I drove a total of 6,622.30 miles and used 798 gallons of fuel. Now that the new engine is installed once i get it dialed in and running perfect i'll start my mileage check again and i'll post back with my results. I'm hoping for closer to 11.5 mpg with the new engine driving mainly surface streets.

I get roughly 13 on the highway and 10 or less around town. That is with 4.10s and 37s with a 350/700r4 combo. If I stay in D vice OD around town the mileage will improve slightly because the motor is not lugging around at 35 in OD:doah:.

Dik

I run my brothers truck in drive as well. OD with the high ass stock gearing in it just don't go together. I know for a fact my Blazer gets 3-4 mpg better mileage than his FI truck

Last trip i went on with a 350 in my setup was 8mpg's

calculated with a gps for miles drove and average speed of 65 the whole tank. 145 miles and 18 gallons of gas.

With the name "onetonbb74" your mileage is expected to be bad. :D

Some people that figure mileage after putting big tires on forget that no only is your speedo off but the odometer also. Make sure you are using road miles and not odometer if you have had a tire size change.

Or gears, or t-case. Doesn't seem like anyone cares that incorrect odometer is possibly the largest factor out there.
