Anyone in the Denver area…the Nova hunt continues

It’s damn cold for this CA dood. Just curious about the drive. I have a round trip flight for early Thursday morning, come back Friday if it’s no good. $88. Could cancel and wait till we get a chance for inspection. I paid for only a seat and personal bag. Pack some fresh undies/socks, all I need if flying back. Driving back would require a stop at Walmart or something. More clothes, food, blankets and car fluids I suppose.

I’m not prepared for under 50* lol

For that price you might as well fly out and inspect for yourself.

If I can deal with the extra days away, I guess there’s a swap meet happening this weekend too.

Well just got home. I saw the pictures a little bit ago but I’ve been driving around today. Thank you Ron for doing that. What is your overall take of the car? That bondo crack and rust coming from the windshield frame makes me nervous. What’s the brotherhood think?

The rust around the windshield area would keep me from buying it. Found a bit more in the tailgate area. It does run and drive pretty good but rush hour was starting so only got up to 55 on the highway.
The car corral at the swap meet this weekend will have some nice rides but I would not expect any Nova wagons to be there.
edit:last 2 pics show daylight coming thru door jamb area with the doors closed completely.

Man I really wanted to like this car, that A pillar repair and now the doors not fitting well enough to keep light out. You were after a basically "done" car i don't think this is it.
Is it repairable I think so.

@Capt Ron did you solve the rivet mystery ??

I would be interested in an unrestored driver, missing all the rust issues. If I can drive something for 2 years and not have to fix anything, that would be nice. Fixing by choice, slowly, might have to be my next goal. Something done done I guess is going to price me way out. It’s too bad, I’m sure there are a lot of these hiding in garages, not being used. And if they see the light of day, it’s picked up for way too much.

I am still very much interested in a nova wagon if someone comes across one. 1966 being my favorite, ‘67 too, and ‘65 last. I’ll bet that CO wagon drives nice, sure looks the part of my fantasy :D

I wanna say BIG thanks to Ron for taking the time, braving the weather, and managing a meet up with the seller. Also a thanks to Rob and Drew for trying. Damn that car looks sweet. Wouldn’t touch a thing probably…probably…maybe. That hidden rust is outside my abilities to fix/pay to have fixed.

I’ll come up another time. I’ll bet the drive is awesome, in something newer. Get up there for a beer or twelve with some of the CK5 peeps. Ron you need anything out this way, let me know. Pomona Swap Meet is early March. Who knows what I’ll find (though at inflated prices)

:D

I think this one might be ok for 2 years of driving, not going to win any car shows. If you have the body sorted out and paint it bitchin put you company logo on it it's a business expense and advertising

Still not sure why they were there. The inner fenderwell covered the blind side, maybe they held the fenderwell during welding?
The car is a 50 footer for sure and it's not like windshield frame repair is a weekend job if you could even find the parts. I was impressed with the overall drivability and I have a couple of videos but not sure if they will load here.

Hmmm looks nice, not sure what’s up with the driver side sheet metal. Looks wonky. $21k though? Nice stock restoration. What y’all think? Newark IL I think

Full on stocker right there, looks nice. Will need a brake up date asap, and probably some front end steering work. Hopefully it was put up for the winters and not salty rust.

Really hoping for less of a project. That blue ‘66 would be cool. I think $21k is steep but I suppose if it’s been restored better than that CO wagon was. It’s a really weird position to be in. Before projects meant fun, now it’s hard to find the enthusiasm to clean out the garage lol

Not much to add other than, I dig nova wagons as well. The blue one you posted is really nice, much better looking than the one that started the thread.

That blue one looks like a good candidate and a driver from the pics. They spray painted the whole engine bay flat black without taping anything off. Thats one of my top 3 deal breakers on a vehicle.
