Anyone near Orange County, CA, to look at a truck for me? - Update, it arrived!

Okay, the seller sent me some pictures and it looks pretty good. I saw one or two issues, but I think I can live with them. However, the truck has 225k miles on it so I suspect that there are problems with the engine, transmission, or differentials.

If I pay someone $50 would anyone be willing to go look at this thing today or tomorrow and do a compression test on it? If you don't have a compression tester, I'll gladly pay for one which you can keep.

Basically I'd want you to follow the buyers guide - check all that good stuff and get it out on the road. I expect it's going to be slightly underpowered because he put 35" wheels on it, plus headers and a new exhaust, and he drilled a ton of holes in the air cleaner housing, so I think he's screwed something up and is selling it. I can deal with putting that all back to normal so long as it's not some major issue.

I just came home to put my work boots on (30 miles out of my way) and back I go. I have an employee that got injured and one that didn't bother showing up. I will be extremely busy this weekend and Monday as a result.

sorry

That's totally cool.

If anyone does want to do this, how about call me and I'll get you his phone number and then you can schedule it any time you want. Once the inspection/test drive is done I'll gladly PayPal you $50 (or I can Western Union it if you want, whatever works for you.)

Thanks guys.

The only thing I am going to do is to replace those tires with something more street friendly. And wash it, steam clean the carpets, and get a soft top! :D

Great truck and a nice find, Wish i had the cash or it would be in my yard. buefchris was the second person who went with me to check it out. The seller was very honest and forth coming he let me take it on a test drive by myself pretty brave in todays society. A total survivor and street princess no dirt or mud underneath i don't think it has ever been offroad or if so very minimal.

Apparently it is.

Get this - it has 227k miles on it. The valve seals are going but I can live with that. Rebuilding the heads is simple.

Just my .02 but I've had those Toyo MT's and their really soft and a nice ride for MT's. Id' keep them. Nice find btw.

damn! probably the cleanest blazer i've ever seen.

225k on a normal vehicle in cali is almost = to like 115k in a normal state. its almost a necessity to rack up mileage quickly.

The problem is they rub the fenders. Since I just poke around town, and like to be able to park and the tight turning radius, I'll be unhappy. I'm going to get some Firestone Destination as they are the best rated I've seen.

And thanks! I'm excited!

You should have seen the one with 42k miles I missed out on last week... :doah:

Yeah, it's had 5 owners, but obviously been taken care of. The current owner has a replacement air filter enclosure for the one that is drilled out, too, so that is going on there.

Other than that, I may upgrade the stereo and/or speakers. :)
