Yep i'm a member of NCOR.
We basically formed as a group of friends here on ck5, then we got our own nor cal big dawgs forum on ck5 for a few years (which became the west coast forum) and we branched off to a club website. So cal big dawgs did the same thing right before the nor cal guys.
I think our club rules state that you must attend at least 1 club function a year.. we have a few annual events, but its also like post up when we're going, or thinking of getting a group together to go wheeling somewhere.
I have to give a big thanks to willyswanter who devotes a lot of time to keeping ncor.com going... just like what steve does for ck5. :thumb:

Not yet a club member, there's only one prominent club here in Wichita, but I hjave yet to meet them. Me and my 4x4 buds on base here are kind of a loose club of sorts... more like friends with 4x4's than anything else. Any runs we go on are more last minute type; get a phone call "Hey, the dodge, bronco, and Z71 are going out, you comin?" but it's more often "ummm, I got swamp donkey stuck, get the guys out here"

I'm in a club only because none of my friends are into hardcore wheeling. I guess it's alright, I think I'm the only one in the whole fricken thing that drives a chevy though. Everyone else is running tiny imports except one guy with a Scout. Ironically just about the only friendly one in the bunch is the scout owner. If I knew more trails around here I wouldn't have joined, it's not worth going to the meetings and dealing with some of the pricks IMHO. Maybe when I finally get my truck done and prove that I can build something that runs I'll get a little respect.

Other problem is I generally off road to get away from the drunken idiots of the world. I'm not against getting together and having a good time, it's just that not a lot of people think the way I do. I enjoy two or three trucks, a couple of good friends, and a scenic view. Getting to test whatever vehicle I'm in is a bonus.

I've been a member of the Ohio 4x4 Trailriders (www.ohio4x4.com) club since about '99 and served as president for two years. It's an official club recognized by the State of Ohio and we have one meeting and one trailride every month, plus a couple of club sanctioned picnic/cookout/dinners each year. The annual membership hovers around 50-60 (one membership per family).

I originally joined the club because I was looking for trails to ride and other people to ride with (none of my friends or family were into off-roading). Around here there isn't exactly an adundance of areas to legally wheel on and you aren't going to find them without going with somebody who knows the area. I've since become good friends with many of the guys in the club and can easily get a decent sized group together on my own to go wheelin', but we all still stay members of the club.

In general we are pretty laid back and there is very little political red-tape BS that some people seem to deal with regarding other clubs. The guys I would call up to go wheelin' on my own are also the ones at the club rides, so the prescheduled club rides (same weekend every month) are simply an easy way to schedule a ride without trying to call everybody up individually and decide what weekend works best.

Our club dues are either $25/year or $125 for a lifetime membership. I paid for a lifetime and here is what I got for it:
- use of the club tire groover
- RTI ramp use
-T shirt and stickers
- a couple of club supplied cookouts each year, including raffle prizes
- support of the local land use organization
- access to wheelin' on several of the club member's private land (again, legal wheelin' areas are a precious commodity around here!).
- numerous good friends and wheelin' buddies!

I'm in a club. It's called CK5. The only folks that I even begin to consider when wantin to go are my local CK5 friends. We meet whenever we want in the Rocky Mountain Forum or perhaps over the phone. It's all I need.

I'm curently in 2 clubs...
Xtreme 4x4's (www.xt4x4.com) mudjunkie 82 is prez (from this site)
I just joined this new club...a very friendly crew.

The other club is Tiretown 4 Wheelers (www.tiretown.com) based in Akron.
I've been a member for 3 years..I hung with them for 4 years before becoming a full blown member.

Not only have I found some good people to wheel and socialize with..
I met people that are now good friends.
Also...I've gotten some super deals on parts.
(one of the guys had a d60 for $350)

Our dues are pretty fair at $40 per membership...$50 the first year.
Monthly meetings...bi-monthly trailrides...X-mass party..fish fries..
steak fries...are some of our activities.

What's nice about our club...we hang with other clubs...check out their trails.
We've been out with 6.2's crew Ohio 4x4 Trailriders.

I guess if you anti-social...clubs aren't for you...
But...if you're like me...and can talk 4x4's for hours...clubs are for you!!!

I have not found good club local. I wheel with a bunch of friends (some from this site). We have thought about forming our own group, but very loosely nit. The one large club local has more by-laws than the US Constituition.

Would it be possible for club meetings to be held at Night Trips???????????

My wife and I are secretary of the Magic City 4 Whelers and as part of that we're members (and elected Delegates) to the Montana 4x4 Association.

Member of Bozeman Mountaineers 4WD Club...witch is a mamber of Montana 4WD Assn...witch is a member of United 4wd Assn. Also our club is a member of Tread Lightly, FFOR, CFBU and other mortorized use groups. The club has been around for over 40 years, I have been wheeling for 9 years and a member of the club for 7 of those years.

Being a member of a club has many advantages.

It keeps axcess open to trails
Clubs organize large runs and events
It is a good resorce for parts & tech help
Will show you trails in your area

Even if you are not active in a 4wd club but still a member you help out the sport of wheeling by standing up and say that you are a motorized user. There is streingth in numbers!

A couple of guys in the club who honestly know what they are doing and have very capable and well built rigs by themselves have told me to sell my K5 and buy a Jeep. Their reasoning being that by the time I am done with it and I am going to be able to keep up with them it will be a Jeep,

Thats funny, I thought most jeep guys wanted to be like us... They like to drop in sb350's, 700r4's, sm420's, D60's, 14bolts.... I would rather start with the good chevy drivetrain and mod my body to be more wheelable then buy a jeep body and swap everything out ;)

Not a member of a club and wouldn't even know where to begin to find one. Not aware of any around here. Would like to be though. I have a white collar job as do most of my friends so not too many of them are into car/trucks etc. Most of them just do yard work on Saturdays. :doah:

No club for me. I have a couple reliable and able guys to run with. Plus the local mud pit where the burb is used is about 5 min. from my house. If I run out to hollister or go hard core in the sierras I take my SORRY jeep SORRY. I still drive the burb every day. I figure havin 2 or 3 solid guys is good enough for me.

If I had nobody to wheel with I would join a club right away. Wheelin alone is not an option and a little B.S. or agenda won't keep me off the trails.

Been wheelin seriously for 7 or 8 years.
