I dont Know whow but The hub assembly fell off my bench. The outer part bent slightly. I can not get the lockouts to goin. I hit it with the brass drift and hammer a few times with no luck. I thought I would ask how to repair this .
I have fixed them before with a small ballpeen hammer, just be careful and not beat too much in one spot. What have you got to lose it's junk the way it is???
I'd get a big steel punch & hammer and try to straighten it. Choose your shots carefully and be careful not to flatten out the snap ring groove or splines to bad. Like he said, you can't hurt it.
Just start on a shallow end and work your way around.Once you get it somewhat round again start trying to slide the lockout back in and adjust from there.Just use the small end of the hammer not the big end.
One of my 60 hubs is bent like that but the lock out still slides in and out.
As for fixing I agree with the ball peen hammer. I would take the round end and place it where you want the blow to be and hit the other end with a small sledge. Only hit it once and then move the hammer and try again.
I like using a ball peen for things like this as the handle on the hammer gets your hands out of the way and you can wail on it pretty good. What have you really got to loose it does you no good as it is.
i had one like that i took a torch and heated it up and took a exhaust pipe flaring thing (i dont know the name of it) and started tighting and it expanded and got it real close just keep heat on it
well It doesnt seem to want o bend back. All Im doing now is denting the insides. It's a 103 dollars for a new hub Well I think It is time to sell the warn hubs and new rotors I bought and put that towards steering parts for the Dana 60 Im going to borrow from my Crewcab
