Art Carr shifter??

[ QUOTE ]
It uses the engine rpm to slow the vehicle down while you are off the gas. Without compression braking, your transmission would act like it was in neutral when you are not on the throttle. Stock slush boxes all have this feature but most manual valve bodies do not. Art Carr is the only one who sells a valve body for the th400 that is set up this way. Other companies can custom build them for $$$$. Hell once I got mine, I figured out how they make them. I just can't manufacture the parts I need to do it /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

not real good at typin but here goes. the shifter starts at furthest point towards dash and to the left. it's in park. you move it to the right 1 inch (it is spring loaded so it has a little tension so it doesn't just flop!) you then pull towards you 1.5 inch. you are now in reverse. pull left 1 inch and down 1.5" neutral. right 1" and down.ETC. till you get into 1st. 1st is furthest down towards you in center. you can't miss a gear because you have to not only pull stick towards you but over first. shifter shifts quick despite having to do both hope this helps and not confuses!

If you start with the shifter plate like P/N1032 in the pic but for a standard shift pattern. With the trans in low, all the way to the rear, and shove the stick forward it will stop at neutral. Flick it to the left and up and you're in reverse.

That all makes sense. Thought that was how it must work.
