The pink wire is ignition wire to the injector pump.

what does that mean exactly? is that the wire which tells the injection pump to shut off when you turn off the key?

Thats right. It controls the solenoid that lets fuel pass when the ignition is on and stops fuel flow when you turn the ignition off.

Yup, my '86 6.2/Banks, wouldn't shut off just after I bought it. Electric switch (down steering column), had minor meltdown and eventually figured out to pull the pink wire. Presto, engine stopped.
