Awesome video on the 8v71 detroit.

FYI?.... Thanks professor. :haha:

I've noticed a LOT of armchair experts and talkers around lately. I have no patience for talkers, dreamers or some random turd on some random forum, and every bit of respect for doers and people that make things happen. If you discredit an idea, or "speak with authority" on something you've never laid your hands on....then your opinion and 'experience' is uninformed and irrelevant. Not to mention lame as hell.

Sh!t like that just makes me want to go do all the things the talking heads say can't be done, just to prove a point.

If no one's done it, then no one knows if it's a good idea or not, period. Saying otherwise, by definition, make's those people full of sh!t.

Just watching the video, seeing the size of the dude walking around it for scale, tells me everything "I" need to know about how big it is. And also, how feasible it is.

And since when does ANYTHING discourage any "car" guy from doing wierd-ass projects like that? I don't see any issue making it work. But then...I know what I'm doing.

Really?

Ok....I'm tired of trying to explain this to you.

Go look at the original post, that you just quoted. At the top, it shows who that post was in response to. Was it you? No, it wasn't. Get it yet? No? Ok...Look at the time of those posts, my post and rfj's were posted 5 mins apart. I got the notification of his reply while typing mine.

Get it now? :deal:

Thanks for totally ruining my post, douche bag. I just want to talk about cool 2 stroke diesels...without a bunch wankers telling my why something can't be done. Keep your stinky drama out of here. :deal::flipoff9:

OO...I like this one alot, 6v53 in a squarebody-

It would be awesome to put one in a truck.
Super useful? Probably not. As other have mentioned the are outdated and obsolete.
I don't think some of those guys get you on this. That's ok man, but I really suggest you tone it down some. No real reason to show that kind of temperament just because they don't get it. Who cares. The ideas thrown out there are the whole foundation that hot rodding was built on. Props for thinking outside the box:bow:. Most people can't think outside the box. Look at the builder of the pissed off Pete. He did and he had a supercool truck when done. But I bet the guys who said he couldn't do don't have a badass rides like that!

My folks had a '69 Mack with an 8v71, I remember that fondly with dual 6" straight stacks.

Like KTM said, ran like a raped ape

Just as practical as me looking for a stationary engine. Useless. But I can sit with a cold one and watch one run for an hour. Smiling the entire time.

My father has a few stationery engines... Lots of fun watching them work.

Thank you for having the ability to relate. :)

As far as toning it down...I can't. It's complicated...because of the bag of cats in my head (ptsd/military), it is detrimental to my mental health if I don't vocalize things that irritate me. If it gets bad enough...the rage sets in and I get suicidal/homicidal. My attitude is ALL about me, not about anyone else, a survival mechanism. That's why I don't care if I rub people the wrong way. The other option is not an option. No attitude directed at you...just a fair explanation, for your fair attitude to me in return.

And that pissed off Pete! Just has cool written all over it. Thanks for understanding that that sort of thing is what I'm going for. Unique and one off. I'd love to have a place, or maybe even open a shop to build things like that. Boxes are booooring! :saweet:

Well fair enough dude. At least I know where your coming from.
I really think that I might do something with one of these engines someday. I found some for decent prices;

I think more of a rat rodded/ slammed/ old skool 66 Chevy c10 or something.
Hammered to the ground, chopped top, stepside, fat meats out back.
I can't see in a 4 wheel drive.
Like a combination of these....

A friend of mine is building a 50s Chevy panel truck he has acquired a 4-53 for.

Oo, I like the way you think. That would be a sweet project mashup. I want to put one in a deuce/lmtv military lookin vehicle one day, then mash it up with a road warrior type look. Like a mix of an MRAP and some the weird vehicles in the new mad max movie. Then take it to truck pulls etc. PTSD/Veterans awareness campaign kinda thing. :D
