Hey guys, I’ve scoured the Dana/spicer manuals online with no luck, and I need help finding out where my front axle is from. It’s a D44, it’s stamped 44-5CF, and C36585 on the front drive side of the pumpkin, there’s a 4.55 tag on the pumpkin cover and the drive shaft spins 4.5x. Per tire rotation. The BOM looks to be 7635BE. Gotta figure out how to upload a pic of it

Where it’s from? As in like what it came out of? With 4.56s it’s unlikely to be Dodge….pics will help

It’s currently under my 1980 gmc Jimmy, passenger side diff. all of the picture buttons ask for links, but the pics are on my phone, and I don’t have social media.. how do you guys post pics?

You have to buy a membership to post pics, well worth the investment.

Dana 44 with .500 wall tubes front axle from a Chevy (44-5CF) probably has flat top knuckles and external hubs 8 lug with 4.56 gearing.

well i can't get that number to work in any of the BOM search engines even Dana

Thanks for the details, I’m hoping to figure out the factory vehicle it came in.. I agree the BOM doesn’t check out, hence the picture

Not sure, not that well schooled. The K5 with 6 lug had a 44 don't remember the M number

CCUCV didn't uses a Dana 44. Dodge did in the 70s but was full time unit bearing crap. Can't make anything out in pics, but prolly mid 70s GM. Shouldn't BOM start with 6??

I’ve never seen a true CUCV without a 60 front, however the Canadian army used 3/4 and 1tons back to 76, just civilian trucks painted green basically

in the 70s you could get a factory 3/4 ton Chevy with a Dana 44 front with 4.56 gears. I had one and had to sell it when I got my first divorce in 1987.
more than likely that is what that axle is.
