Back In the Saddle Again

Nice work!

That's where I always mount the ECU if possible too, it's the perfect spot, behind the firewall, hidden from weather, eyes, heat, vibration, EMI, etc.

New dash needs a lot of trimming has me thinking it my be A/M afterall. Just need to install the passenger door harness, figure out where the 4x4 selector plugs into the bulk head and its done.

The wiring harness is excellent extremely well built and I am very happy with it so far. Very easy to install compared to build your own. I was also able to use pigtails from the old harness for various things. Like the GPS tracker which is now neatly part of the harness behind the dash. I feel like I should replace the dash speakers while im here but kinda feels like throwing money away on speakers like that. Easy enough to do later.

Heres how I am wiring the Electric Seat. 20A breaker. The Constant 12v comes off the fuse panel using a pigtail. IMG_6024.jpeg

Just be careful because if you don't fuse the wire from the fusebox and it shorts before the little breaker, it can start a fire still.

I had a friend that built a .69 Chevelle, was probably a $70K car 10 years ago. Anyway, he hired two things done, the paint and the custom interior. He was at a carshow, and his daughter got in to drive around a loop and oved the seat forward and the dreaded smoke started, and there was a mad frenzy to find the short before the whole care was on fire. The interior builder, made a tiny but dangerous mistake, don't be that guy. I like the way you protected the wires and fastened it, cycle it all the way both ways to make sure it doesn't rub or catch, and I would fuse or breaker protect the wire near the source.

And look at the red wire after the connector, is it rubbing on the metal bracket?

^^ x2. Be sure the feed for circuit breaker has fuse protection.
This will make that circuit breaker un necessary.
The exposed terminals under the seat is just a welding project waiting on material

Buddy I have hot wired fuel pumps straight to batteries with clothes hangers and dailyed it for years like that. For sure this is a really short run guess I could fuse it right after the pig tail.

But it only takes one bad short to rub through unprotected and your K5 may be toast.

So I am looking for ideas on what I could use the rear window switch for. Or use the hole in the dash for mounting something else. Anyone seen a cool mod there? Im thinking charging port or something.
