Back In the Saddle Again

Diy 4X shock towers have enough clearance to get the headers in however I will have to shave them down a bit. This also depends on where you put them. I got luck lolIMG_3176.jpeg

Another reason to upgrade to the competition mounts, the old clam shells would have allowed enough movement for that to hit while driving.

Yeah that must be what the difference is. There was so much lore on the net about SBC and BBC mounts and if there even was a difference but there definitely is a difference

There is a difference, but either will work, just use the same bottom and top mounts.

The sbc bucket mounts which attach to the block —mount holes are spread further apart than the bbc. these definitely will not work it’s about 3/4” - 1” further apart left to right than BBC. I have heard some guys have been able to get them to work so there must be some variation in design depending on year range. The ones I have will not work. Ain’t no way without modifying the cross member. Destroyed the rubber mount on the frame trying to get it lined up. The ORD mounts are well worth the price after trying to pry that engine into place for hours lol I could have got them to work by redrilling the cross member to accept the 3/4” difference but I didn’t want to do that.

Trans is all sealed up. About to open up the transfer case and swap input shafts. I misplaced the alignment dowels for the back of this block.

Robbed the dowels off my SBC went to bolt pressure plate and clutch on only to realize I have no pressure plate bolts.

Hopefully get to the transfer case this week some point. I am trying to remember how to take it apart without launching the needle bearings everywhere

Are these the long tube ones? I have a 465 and keeping the drivetrain in the stock location for my 5.3 and looking for headers that fit.

Is it normal for these fork covers to wear that quickly? Some ting wong I think. Maybe just cheap plastic? I rebuilt this case only a couple years ago with minimal driving really. Fluid looks great no wear I can see besides these one end cover was missing completely. Just seems odd to me. Maybe slightly out of adjustment? I had zero issues after rebuild but it looks like I was about to run into them again.
