Back In the Saddle Again

So, installed PCV and a whole bunch of problems were solved. Not only does it appear the oil leak is solved but it improved my brakes immensely. Which was unexpected but very welcoming. It also runs way smoother and isn't dieseling at shut off anymore. Went with an inline PCV to back of manifold. Passenger VC gas cone filter.

This would have been terrifying before the cross over steering lol truck drives like a modern rig. Need to open the dash and see whats up with the fuel gauge now my dash lights also stopped workingIMG_5938.jpeg

Fixed both the fuel gauge and dash lights. I must not have got the sender wire pushed all the way on - grounded the button plug and confirmed gauge went to E so the gauge is fine. Seems to be reading now but Im not sure how accurate. Dash lights was just the fuse. Im ready to hit the road to kingman tomorrow AM and check out AG Dieslers Burban!

Never mind, the gauge on fuel changes with bumps in the road. a faulty sender? But it works intermittently which is weird. All the wiring down the frame is new. The fuel gauge always worked correctly until I did the Ls swap and put in the electric fuel pump. Hmm, Ill have to take the tank down in a couple days and see if the ground is frayed or something on the sender end. Dont remember there being a problem when I dropped the tank to do the shackle flip.

I have no experience in fixing mine yet, but I was told that there is a resistor bar on the back of the fuel gauge which can be a problem.
I don't know for certain.

Yeah, i replaced the resistor a while back when I rebuilt all my gauges. The gauge works correctly I tested it. Its either the ground on the sender or sender itself I think.

Or possibly its just not a good connection with the button style plug. I might put a piece of copper foil inside the plug and see if it gives it a better connection.

It sounds like you had a vacuum leak to me. Installing a PCV shouldn't solve the brakes, the rough running or the dieseling issues by itself.

It didn't solve it I had to adjust air/fuel and idle to get the dieseling to stop which it has now. Temp outside is about 30 degrees cooler than last month so it was running rich had to lean it out. The brake pedal just has a much better feel to it.

So the trip to kingman az did show me that the truck is incredibly loud in the cab myst be over 100 dbs with no insulation or soundproofing at all. I do have the floor batting in the rear but nothing in the cab. So i got some rock wool insulation and stuffed the bedsides with it. Made a huge difference going to do the inside of the doors next.
