"Backcountry Limo"

I moved my steering box, what a pain, watch radiator clearance closely. I moved mine up a little too though cause I didn't want to switch pitman arms

Looks good

one more thing you may find you need to switch to the xj shaft or get a u joint for the steering shaft. I relocated my steering box and helped a friend do his and we both ended up angling them different to clear the rad, and frame.

Just something else to think about

When I did the K30, the front clip was off of it. The Subs is on and the radiator mount needed clearanced. The 3lb did the job, its only by about 3/16". A countersink bit and different bolts will take care of it at a later date.

I'm curious how this thing will handle on the highway. Looking to do similar setup but not sure as mine is a DD. I talked to ORD and told me they went through two pairs of 52's dew to spring failures. They didn't recommend I follow suit but I'm still interested. Your build is looking spectacular btw! Real Kick A**!!!!

Got somewhere tonight with the project. The shop has been pretty busy with the firecracker event and logging picking back up for a breif stint. I had my steering box lock up from lack of fluid since it was in the K30 for a year without a pump. Trying to do the research on what box came from what year is a pain since the invention of the computer database. I went back into my parts house to pick up the 2nd new box. Wrong again. The guy at the commercial desk tonight wasn't gonna give up. He does the outside sales for Schucks and got the paper database out. We pulled all of the boxes that were from 68 to 89 c and k series pickups. Here is what I figured out. The part numbers are A1CARDONE.

68-76 c series- p#27-7501 large input/ splined sector/ sae fittings
68-76 k series- p#27-7502 large input/ smooth sector/ sae fittings
77-79 c series- p#27-7512 small input/ splined sector/ sae fittings
77-79 k series- p#27-7513 small input/ smooth sector/ sae fittings
80-86 c series- p#27-7522 small input/ splined sector/ oring fittings
80-86 k series- p#27-7524 small input/ smoot sector/ oring fittings
88-89 p# 27-7539 p#27-7540 inside frame mounting with splined sector shaft. other difference unknown. gvw ratings as far as the book was concerned.

I was looking for the larger input shaft like all of my junkers that were laying around the shop.

Here are some poser pics from the cell phone. I'll get the good pics up when I get the camera back from a buddy. Still have some loose ends to tie up with the steering. I have to install hydro-assist and build a engine crossmember/track bar mount.

Nice....how's this coming along? Will be keeping a close eye as my 91 will be going under the knife very soon.

I was mounting the steering ram and trussing the axle. The stock engine crossmember was modified for clearance but wasn't enough. Time constraints required some quick fab work to get it driving again. Haven't been able to drive it for about 6 months. The death wobble was horrendous with the 56" fronts. The engine crossmember was cut out and a new one fabbed up. I made a track bar mount part of the crossmember. Kind of redneckish for now but it works. I'll change some design of it later and swap it out. The steering ram was now able to be mounted higher and back farther. The original location was to low to allow clearance above the spring pack at droop. I'll have to cut the plate off of the truss and redo the mount. For now I just put a couple spacer tubes in and welded them down. The track bar is adjustable.
I put the track bar on first and drove it. It improved the wobble but didn't get rid of it. The wobble was no longer at low speeds but couldn't get above 45. I installed the hydro assist next. I drove to turkey day about 80 miles one way. Drove like a dream. I need to adjust the orbital though. It pulls to the right slightly and is faster that direction.

The poser pic from the shop is yesterday before going to the families.

Looks good, I like that fab work!

Thanks.

I'll wheel a couple day snow trips than pull the engine crossmember back off. I'll build a couple more cleaner ones. I'll also cut the cylinder mount off and redo it before I weld to the cast housing.

I've been keeping a list in my head of what I want to get done. Here is where it is now. It will probably change as time goes on.

Winch bumper
Front driveline
Rear traction bar
Radiator and Electric fans
Remote oil filter mount
Swap tranny/tcase- t400/208 to t400/205
Flat mounts for Tranny/Tcase
New windshield
Gauges and Stand Alone Harness
Tie downs in cargo area
Rear bumper, tank guard, sheet metal trimming
New exhaust- Get rid of the duals for single 3.5"(Current hangs low)
Wheels and Tires- When I decide on size

Playing with a winch mounting idea. we'll see how it works. need to get the fairlead mounted.

I have a 86 burb and seeing this makes me want to start on mine. Plan on putting 3700 in it for rims tires and the suspension and boby lift to make the 38's maybe 44's if I can scrape up the other 800 for em. Good looking truck need to get some pics of mine on here.

I dig your winch mounting idea. I sold my winch after I sold my Jeep... what a bad idea that was!

If I do get another winch, I'd love to have it mounted behind the bumper ;)
Nice rig, man.
