"Backcountry Limo"

Every time I work on it the wiring and other misc stuff bugs me and gets me side tracked. I did get it running to take camping this weekend. Put a coolant sensor and resealed the tbi. Needs engine mounts, but I cheated for the weekend. Took the spacers out of the tranny crossmember and raised the tcase mount. It will do for the weekend.

Got tuner pro on the laptop and my cable working. I can now read live data on the suburban. Now I can start addressing some of the more tedius problem with the runability of the suburban. I was able to verify that the park/nuetral switch is working. I can make my adjustments and continue reparing the misc crap that the PO installed or hacked. One step closer to heading to the trail. Although the most frustrating part of the build is the lack of time I have. My stuff always takes a back seat to customers.

I would have a three days to work on it this weekend, buuuuuttttttttt! The wifes Yukon needs some attention today before we take a trip to Hood River to look at a couple of restoration projects for other guys. Can't turn these ones down either if they sign off on the cost. One will be a CK5 worthy thread and the other will be just another HEEP!

Got my aldl cable and tuner pro working. Now to just keep moving forward!

Got tired of working and decided to take the boy out for a drive in the woods. Did a little exploring since the wife went to cali with the girls for the weekend. Got a couple poser pics for you guys while we were out.

Going to try and get it out this weekend for some action pictures. I have a guy interested in a trade. He is supposed to come over sunday to work out the details. We'll see what happens.

Well no word from the guy who offered up a trade. Selling stuff on craigslist for more than 10 bucks is a pain in the arse. No big deal though, cause

I broke the front housing yesterday!:sign27:

I need to do some research, but just to throw this out there. What years did the Dana 60 have a cast tube? Does anyone have an idea?

Its a sign, man...your truck is trying to tell you something...

I should've finished the axle truss for the strength, but it still shouldn't have broke. I wasn't even pushing it hard. The trail is a mild trail that 33's and a single locker could handle.

I didn't think they used cast tubes either, but the break is odd. Once I get it out of the rig and on the table I will see more.

I was always under the impression that only the 3rd members were cast and the axle tubes were always steel. Otherwise how would they weld on spring perches and shock mounts :dunno:. Just doesnt seem practical to cast the axle tubes.

I still haven't had a chance to pull the axle. I made a deal with a guy who wants all of my aftermarket and steering. The suburban is going to go on the chopping block. It will be missing the axles in a couple weeks, but I have an idea for its second chance at stardom.

After looking at the axle tube some more. I am thinking that it had a harmonic vibration that created a bunch of micro fractures.

Meanwhile, I picked this up the other day. 83 3/4 ton with six inch lift and 36" toyo a/t on weld 18 wheels.
Used to be a diesel. No cab rust but has some body damage to the passenger side. They ran bad gas through it and plugged the carb. Also the ignition is hoecky. One switch for the starter and to kill the engine the alternator has to be disconnected along with the battery.
