"Backcountry Limo"

Ok, so I've been off work for a little over a week with headaches. I slept the first four days and now I've been stir crazy the last couple. Hence the late night web wheeling. I got fed up this afternoon and called a buddy.

me: "What are you doing?"
kevin: "Just finished watching the Beavers win again!"
me: "Want to go up to Shotgun and run that trail?"
keving: "Sure, I'm bringing a friend."

He followed me up in her Toyota FJcruiser. Total street rig, but she wanted take it out. He bypassed everything with it except the log jam. She likes taking pictures and I needed Kevin to spot me. Perfect. I had yet to finish this trail that everyone had been telling me was a "Mild" run. Yeah, it was mild if you bypassed the first 3/4 mile of it. There was a turn around at that point and a marker with a "Black Diamond" on it. Doesn't that mean difficult? Somebody had been fibbing. It had 50 yard section to give you walking fits. Wasn't no "Mild" but wasn't real "Wild" either. Here are the photos.

By the way, this is the same trail that I broke the 60 on before even getting to the turn around.

Sweet!!! Sure looked slick. Slicker than fish grease. Love seeing Burbs on the trail. Sounds healthy too!!!

The trail is up shotgun creek ohv area. Outside of marcola. It's the only trail for 4x4 vehicles. Mostly quad and motorcycle trails. It's a neat area for a quick couple hours to do a little damage.

I'll take some pics of the 60 after I do some cleanup after inspection. I want to make sure that it isn't gonna crack so I didn't paint it yet. Since I didn't paint it, it's ugly looking. Rusted already around the welds. Maybe this weekend.

It was slick. First rain is like a slip and slide. Plus I only had the Toyo A/Ts on the sub. I'm hoping to tone down the exhaust a bit this next spring. I want a single 3.5" setup instead of the dual 3". I'm hoping that will do ok, but the more I drive it the more I like the dual tone.

Broke the windshield

Tried to pull the glass out of the pickup and broke the windshield. Well I gues the suburban is keeping the bad one for a little longer still. I didn't want to buy a windshield before painting it next spring. I need to fix the dent on the roof when I pull the shield out. Figured I would do that when it goes in the paint booth. Oh well.
Gonna fix my headlights, engine mounts and wire the winch this week. If I have time I'll put the diesel radiator in it too. We'll see.

Made some progress- got sidetracked

It's a bit dark and cold here in the northwest lately!

Having some problems uploading pics. Here's the story though and pics will come when able.
Stopped by the auto parts house(morons). They happened to have a couple relays and circuit breakers in stock though. Last two of each. Got home and started pulling my headlights out of the short bus and the pickup. I bought silver stars tonight also. Installed the new units and robbed what I needed from the truck. Adjusters, springs, bulbs, lenses. Got the headlights working. Didn't do the wiring tonight cause I got sidetracked with turn signals, tail light housings, and the coolest find of the night. My dome light is still wired up and working. I had these rice rocket led driving light sitting on a shelf. Was gonna wiring them up in the corners somehow to have turning lights( like the Cadi had). Didn't like the way they mounted and couldn't find a secure spot. Was thinking of putting them under the hood for wrenching beams and remembered that the sticky lights inside the cab were all broke and missing. Decided I would wire up some dome lights. Looked inside and realized the wiring in the roof was taped up at the end and only reached the middle. Crazy idea, but I just had to test the two wires. No way I thought to myself. So I turned the dimmer switch to turned off position. The LEDs were still lit. This can't be for real, late night getting tired maybe? Nope, shut the doors( all of them) and the lights go out. Holy schnyckies ford lovers. My 25year old Chevy has good factory wiring underneath all that redneck rats nest wiring.
Got the marker light in the primer fender that has been missing since I got the rig. Just need some more bulbs and we'll be golden.
Winch time tomorrow.

Got the cb installed. It's not where I like them. In fact it's where I dispize them. Mainly cause I can't stand putting holes in dashes. Since mine is already cracked. I let brycen decide between the console and the dash. He chose the dash. Should of seen him tell me why. Awesome.

The only other thing done tonight was clean the inside of the back window and remove some PO stickers that were still hanging around. All this progress so that I could put the good sticker on the back window. Got my CK5.com sticker installed. I guess that makes me official. I'm an addict with a junky problem.:haha:

These long work days and late nights wrenching are wearing on me. Maybe I'll get the winch finally wired tonight. Here we go. Finally got my wire from the supplier. Ordered overnight and it took two weeks. When I welded the front axle together, I left 3 inches of wire on the roll. Didn't know until I checked before welding a knuckle on a another 60.

Got the winch wired tonight with the control box temp sitting behind the bumper. It will eventually be mounted under the hood once the dual batteries are install and I know where I want it.
On the dual battery note. One of my 4d batteries has a bad cell and boiled over tonight while hooking up the winch and charging. Now the dual batteries will have to wait a little longer.

Modified my front inner and outer fenders a bit today. Once the short wide is out of my shop I'll be doing some repairs to the rig.
On another note. Thinking of renaming the girl.
I'm thinking maybe "Adventure Caddi"?
