x2... i once send the car to the jiffys lube cause i was in a hurry to get the oil change to go to ohio.. i acted like i didnt know abt the cars.. like dumb.. and i watched them do everything thru the glass. then i nicely walked in the garage and told them to leave the k&n air filter alone, i need a new oil. and would like my car vacummed and all fluids filled, since i picked that one to get everything checked.. so the manger saw what happened so he gave me 10 free lube changes. i threw it away and went to ohio. didnt pay for anything.. a week later when i got home, i changed everything my self since i dont trust their stuff... and it looks like the manger never straighten them out or fired them.... they still work there..
Haha funny you mention that. I got a job at jiffy recently. Interesting job . Actually its not too bad, I'd never take any car there or recommend someone take a car there tho...

But I guess for people that want all the extra services that go along with a regular oil change (vacumming, wash windows, etc) and want it fast its alright. Sure accidents and mistakes have happened, but at least the manager there is really good about paying for any cost of repairs.

I'm 18 and working there to get some experience in an automotive field and mostly have something relevent to auto mechanics in a resume for later jobs. Not to mention make some money of course :D. But there is a place down the street that does brakes, shocks, alignments, etc that I might be checking out later on one of my breaks ;).

What I do hate about the job is its just like working at a fast food joint compared with a sit down restruant. Everything is quikc and not always as well thought out as it could be, and I'd love to do bigger "projects" and fabrication and really work on a car and not have to change oil on prius's all day. For some reason those chevy guys never get their oil changed there . Go figure. But hey, thats why I'm getting this experience now I guess so hopefully I can get one of those jobs later. :D

i only make 50,544 after taxes a year.. between me and my finacee, we are pretty happy.. its no 100 k a year but im happy to have something... sorry hijack off..

howdiy what are u trying to aruge here you stated that being a mechanic is a dead end job

it was stated that there are mechanics making a good living at the job and you start quoting average salaries

Exactly. Stating that a job is a dead end job due to not making in excess of 100k a year on average is just ridiculous. I live pretty confy and have everything I need and allot of what I don't working for my rich uncle.

I make 10 an hour working construction with my dad currently. Very low pay for construction but he pays for a lot of stuff so I dont mind.

10 an hour is pretty good for a place like here.... i make that now, so if i get a job thats 11 an hour, ill be happier! but i aint gonna complain, i have a life, 2 cars on payment, rent, bills, kid, dogs... and still be able to go out n have fun.. so its better than tryin to be a preppy kid...
