i really like the square tube he used on that rig....has he weighed it??how much heaver is it than one made out of .120 wall 2 inch dom???it seems like a good way to build a poor mans truggy!!
I think it's an ugly way to do it......all you need to build that square thing is a grinder and a 110 welder with a bunch of sun on your neck.

Doing pretty good. Hopefully will have my junk back together shortly...still fixing the steering box I broke at Wellsville on March '06. I put a new one on but it was apparently from a van and thus reversed!

What size tube did you use? Did you use the same diameter thru out build? And would you do it the same way again? Just lookin for advice on my build. Oh and it is my computer background:D , Hope mine turns out as nice. I have other questions but I'll hit you up later that way your build stays on the first page;)

I used 1 3/4 x .120 DOM tube, yes it is the same size throughout the whole rig. The seats and fuel cell are mounted with 1 1/2 x .100 HREW.

if you don't mind me asking how much did all that tubing set ya back? and how many feet did you use?

That's a good question, and one I'd like to know, too.

Mine probably has a similar amount of tube, so I'll chime in.

Steel prices vary pretty wildly from place to place and you have to account for scrap. Some people end up with a ton, others not so much but it is something you will need to account for.

I think mine used about 140' of 1.625" .120" wall DOM (~$3.75/foot), 15' of 1.75" .120" wall DOM (~$4.25/foot) and 20' of 1.5" .090" HREW (~$1.75/foot). That makes for ~175 feet of tube at a cost of around $700 (I still have some shorter pieces of tubing laying around).

250 ft. total, the first 200 ft cost $510 delivered from Akron Industrial Tube.
When I purchased Emmetology 101's Blazer, he thru in a bunch of tubing, that's where I got the other 50'.

The 1 1/2 x .100 HREW was $30 for a 22' stick.

The 11 GA side sheets were $25 ea.

The 16 GA 4x8 sheets for the floor cost $50 ea.
