BB 2019 last minute thrash

So I had this epic road trip planned out. Wrenching on the stuff that needed wrenched, tune up, new radio head unit, oil change, gathered a trip kit of spare belt, ign module, etc., truck is good to go.

Then my Dr tells me I shouldn't make that kind of drive. I had a Pulmonary Embolism in 2010 and I'm at a higher risk for another, especially if I do that much driving. I'm on Eliquis, but 1200 miles one way is too much sitting.

One more reason getting old sux, but it beats the alternative.

what if you broke the trip up into shorter drives, like 400 miles a day or so

Thought about that, still thinking about it. Like most of y'all, I'd push it and try to do it like when I was younger. Then I think of trying to breathe with ice picks in your lungs...if I'm lucky. High probability of not feeling anything if it just goes straight to my brain. Dammit.

We spent the weekend looking over the S-10, ended up rebuilding the front links (new ballistic joints and new tube adapters). The old ones were pretty beat up and since the adjuster nuts always came loose, the threads on the tube adapters were shot.

We also built a little extension on the front bumper to protect the light bar. When we took it on a test run I ran it into a tree... Luckily it's designed with a breakaway piece so we didn't break the light bar.

The list is pretty short now, T-11 days and counting.

Speaking of radios, is there a specific ham frequency those with ham will be on?

Most of us use race radios and we'll pick a channel. Generally we use ORDs old race frequencies.

Not legal on ham yet myself, but did get a baofang in from Amazon yesterday. So I'll monitor any frequency you guys might be on and keep the talking to my CB.

But what if we just call you Noobmad75?

:D
Well if it's all part of the hazing new people get I'm game. I do give as good as I get though...
Do we have to keep you two separated?

@ZooMad75 mostly we try to intermingle the n00bs with seasoned guys. By the time Friday rolls around, everything will be cool

You will be fine with no communication device if you can follow the guy in front of you. Listening to the highlarity that some times happens over the radio is fun.

It comes in handy, when you accidentally drive off the road and need to call for a tow.

I have a CB, but broke my antenna off 2 years in a row, so mostly I can only hear you if you are within shouting distance anyway.

That's what I did although it was difficult to keep up with the Trail Boss is those flat sections.....had to look for the cloud of dust :D

I'm positive that I will get some grief as usual, but also because I am going to be running a different truck than it was in 2014, and also different from the old bent72.. That might make me a noob thrice over..
:doah:
Then there's this whole turning 50 stuff..
:doah:
