BB 2019 last minute thrash

I would.prefer to tow it with a diesel but a gasser I would even do. The truck would make it but it's a 7.5 hour trip and at about 10mpg it isn't cheap on 91. Yes it will run on 87 just fine but I would.prefer the comforts on a long trip like that especially sense I can't split it up into days.
Do what you gotta do! I don't have a tow rig or trailer. Which means I'm hitting the road with mine. Outside of not having a/c I got nice comfy seats, kickin tunes and a gorgeous drive through the Rockies. Plus once I gain elevation the need for a/c pretty much goes away until I drop into Utah.

If your rig runs fine on 87, don’t waste your money on 91. You’ll probably get better mpg on 87 too.

Hell I tow mine I live an 1.5 away why cause shit happens. And if not my rig there a few other locals coming that I could help out.

I'm not knocking anybody for towing. I don't have any other way. Which means I have to play nice so I can drive my junk home.

I made some stickers for an offroad park that said something to the effect of "hey stupid, remember you gotta drive it home....:" Haha, you need me to make you one like that @ZooMad75 ? :D
Totally. I may let my son take the wheel. He needs the reminder more than I do!

I'm dragging mine with a V10 gasser. MPG will be horrible but I want the comfort over the nostalgia.

It does but my God does it run even better on 91. :eek1: It's a play toy and I'll go for the extra power.
@Raggedy_Ann is playing with HP Tuner on his 6.0. He was telling me the ECU has 2 timing tables, one for 91 and the other 87. It tries to run on the higher octane table but if it can't it drops to the lower table. Wonder if yours is the same way.

Same here I might have my son with me also and he has never wheeled, for that matter it has been a really long time since I have done any wheeling myself.
Along a complete different train of thought I am curious what trails us two noobs driving Winnebagos are going to tackle?

Based on @mrk5 's suggestion to me on the other thread, Hells Revenge on Friday and Flat Iron Mesa on Saturday. I got to boogie back home Sunday to rejoin the rat race. Depending on arrival times, I will want to tackle a couple of trails prior to Friday, but we can move that part of the discussion to another section per what Wade said about keeping pre-event discussions/run organizing separate to the BB discussion. We don't want to put the permits in jeopardy

Maybe, I'm not sure but I can tell a difference.

You'd be fine with Top of the World on Friday as well, for that matter. I do think Hell's is a must for Moab wheeling but it can be intimidating. If you're out there early you can dip your toes in the pool with Fins n Things which I think is a kind of Hell's Revenge - Lite. Also last time I was there, the exit road from Hell's is getting pretty damn tricky.

I was going to say that you must change the tune to take advantage of the 91 plus you have to have a high enough compression to make a difference.

Yeah, he put high compression pistons in after trashing the motor on Truck Night.

In that case, if the tune matches the compression, 91 is the way to go and he should do it but luckily these engines compensate for low octane if he ever puts it.
Personally I prefer keeping things simple and staying with regular gas.
The 91 is way overpriced for what it is

(1)New heater core. (with help from @6872xtc ). Check.
(2)Speedometer repair. Broken drive in gearbox. Replace. Check.
(3)New front spring bushings. Check.
(4)A/C repair. leaking o-ring. Replace, and recharge. Check.
(5)Rust repair in passenger floor. Not important, it's only the passengers side
(6)Winch wiring, anderson plugs and cables. Not important, never had a winch before,
(7)Rear shock brackets. Won them at BlazerBash, a few years ago. Should install them. LOL
(8) Chinese mp3 player died on the way home last year, must buy another one.

New ujoints in the rear driveshaft. Then today put a hole in the radiator driving along the highway. Hopefully got it shut down before any overheat damage but won't know till the radiator gets repaired next week
