BB10 trip from hell and glad I made the journey.

Man, sounds like you had one of the best trips.
It might not seem like it yet, but soon you will realize what a great trip it was.
Those are the ones you remember, talk about, and become family legends.

The trips were everything works perfectly, you make all the trails with no problems or damage are huge fun while you are doing them, but 2 years later, you would have trouble even remembering them.

Your 17 year old? I'm sure you have told him what a great job he did, but you need to take him to one side, sit him down, look him right in the eyes and tell him very solemnly that you are proud of the way he acted, and shake his hand.

Then, don't mention it much again.
My father did that for me 5 times in my life, and I can remember each one.

You may have seen this when I first posted it, but maybe this explains what I mean about it being a fun trip.
I'm sure that these guys did not think things were so great at first, but I bet their grand-kids can tell the story.

Glad everything worked out, wish I had been with you.

So did your boys learn any new words!?!? Hahaha!

I can only imagine how stressfull of a trip that must have been Kert. It's one thing to have K5 issues, but MULTIPLE k5 and tow rig issues like that sure can get you down. It happens to the best of us and only makes you better able to handle it in the future. Keep your head up and work them bugs out.

It was great to finally meet you Kert. I've talked to you on the phone a few times and have a few of your parts on my rig (you noticed the rim strengtheners).

I'm Brent, the guy that provided the water on the side of the road on the way to BFE and the campsite/grinder/sawzall provider for Monday's fabrication work (I also was providing some of the snide remarks ). I even got to wrench on your tow rig a little bit when we were getting the clutch pedal re-installed.

Unfortunately I didn't actually get to see you wheeling, I was looking forward to see that monster in action. I look forward to seeing it next year.

Here's some pictures of the master fabricator at work :thumb: (BlazinZuk and jason4x4 too)

Also, on a side note, we were comparing our NV4500 hydraulic clutch setups at my campsite. I was curious how you got the stock bellhousing and slave cylinder to work with a passenger side drop front axle. I thought the front driveshaft would hit the slave cylinder.

I didn't think about it at the time or I would have looked.

Tell Konner hi for me and smack Jimmy in the back of the head for me:whistle:

Done! And we'll see you next year on the trail.

I'll see you next year at the BB11.

For sure. I got some gloves for you bud. Shoot me a PM with your size and i'll get some coming. Really appreciate all the help.

I did just that very thing save the hand shake. His response, "Cool, buy me some stuff."

Yeah, the 17 year old did, that's for sure. He's already talking about next year.

It was stressful at points and there were times I really thought, "Boy we're in trouble." No matter what it was along with the company we had, we managed to put it back together and keep going.

Actually I don't have the drive shaft on. I went to a Drivers drop tcase and have the axle to match it, just didn't have time to do the axle swap before the bash. So I was in one of them poser rigs with no front drive shaft.:D

And Damn, I got some grey hair. Thanks for posting that picture.:doah:

Sooooo what are you saying? You met Kurt?:haha:

It was Monday, and that is Blazinzuk. :D

Sounds like you got put through some tough stuff Kert! As always you prevailed. Cant wait till I can get some money saved up and time to finish my junk projects. You keep going out there and get the route memorized so we can convoy out there in a couple years!

Did you ever find that vice-grip in your fender?

I got my route memorized. Litte further as far as mileage goes but faster in the end.

vice grip has probably long since fallen out. No biggie.

Kert....after 9 years of Blazer Bash in Moab we all have some great stories. I also value the spirit of the wheeler and enjoy the stories of how we grow after experiences like yours. Sometime I will tell you the story of when Scott spat teeth in the rear on Gold Bar. That was a trip! But kudos for my MrK5, he builds and wheels always with me and our boys in mind. And I see that you are much the same! Good luck in the next year and I look forward to seeing you again on the red rocks!

Finally read through this. You win the hard luck award. Glad I could loan the Jimmy for your run into town. Was working with Scott and could not help with the truck. Glad it all worked out and you made it home.

So how was the rte 80 return, did you take 70 out to 15 then up to 80?

Sure do appreciate the use of the rig. Thank you!

There was a highway 6 in there up to Provo utah and then a sidestep around Salt lake city. I just did some google map research. There is a shorter way to go through Wyoming. Rock Springs in Wyoming taking a left south on 191 would shave some time off the northern route unless it has the sharp climb passes.

It was a much simpler return route as far as the elevation goes. With deeper gearing maybe the Colorado rockies wouldn't be so bad, I just don't see any reason to run that route again though.
