What caused the crossmember twist/frame dent? Was it the broken motor mounts or did you hit it or the skidplate hard?

Tires begin to degrade significantly after only 5 years and I wouldn't trust a 10 year old tire for anything other than yard duty.I blew a trailer tire 10 miles North of Moab on the way home, and limped into home with a second about ready to go. Neither of the tires that let go were even on my radar as possible, the one I was pretty sure I would have a problem with is still hanging tough.
Guess it's time for another $500 in tires, they only last about 8-10 years for me![]()
And a squeaky alternator that just had to be removed mid way up Moab Rim. I saw the hood up on twinkle an awful lot.Ummmm, single shear shock mounts ring a bell there Twinkle Toes?
He also had a leaky hub seal on the 14 bolt and topped off the power steering with 1.5 pints. And a squeaky alternator that just had to be removed mid way up Moab Rim. I saw the hood up on twinkle an awful lot.

I am betting that you have the same carnage as @500$k5 .I have no idea, could be either. the extent of me looking has been glancing at it from the side. i need to crawl under and look. i am pretty sure i hit the crossmember but i don't think i hit it hard enough to do that. one day i will crawl under and figure it out![]()

One thing I absolutely to not miss about a K5 is having to deal with the tailgate and the window in it.

I got a crappy night of sleep lest night so I am really tired.. Was already loaded up and was ready to leave this morning. Fired up the Frankenliner and realized I forgot to grab my ice chest. Flded the ladder down, climbed up into the camper. Grabbed the ice chest and headed for the cab. Got on to the 191 before I realized I did not fold the ladder back up. It seems a lot bent now. drug all of the way out of the RV park. I am sure everyone was awake after that, Aluminum dragging on pavement.
Best mod I’ve done. Truck gate and softop. One thing I absolutely to not miss about a K5 is having to deal with the tailgate and the window in it.
I agree. I did that on the last Blazer I owned. Was able to shed weight in doing it. Truck gate just bolts right in. Wonder why that is?Best mod I’ve done. Truck gate and softop.
