I like the Elite's but, evidently they don't make em for a BBC

What header do you run on your rig?

I have the hooker comps for the bbc...Id have to check the receipt for the part number, but I got them from summit and they fit great as long as you pull the oil filter, starter and front driveshaft upon installation...

those sound great....ever think you would want bigger tubes? I plan on running up to 5500 at times. Did you put a different finish on them?
Got any installed pics?

not the greatest pic,

no finish, these were the only ones they sold at the time (2003) so I didn't have much options...I was just impressed on how they fit, for how tight they are to the frame rail. The headers or bbc is no longer in there anymore as I have a tbi350 now, but that is a pic from last year and if I were to keep the bbc, id have them coated or try to find a coated set just like it...

cool, so no frame interference then?
I'm putting a boxing kit in too, and need about 1/8" more to the inside of the frame to fit the metal on the frame.
still got the doubler in there?

(by the sig, I would guess yes)

Yep, still got the doubler and didn't need it when the bbc was in there, and I also had no frame interference, but the passenger side exhaust tube dipped into the C part of the frame and then came back out so Id start boxing a couple inches past the motor mount on the passenger side.

thanks for the tip Dean.....I will probably concave the box at that point, as I've started at the front crossmember with the boxing kit.

Mine are not really a "budget" type of header but they are what I was looking for, Sanderson shorties that have been HPC'd. The only thing I'd do different is buy headers that are already coated as opposed to having a set coated after the purchase.

got any pics on your truck?
Those look like they would dump right about the bottom of the block, or lower?

No pics on the motor yet, I'm going to due the initial crank and break in on a used set of Hedmans and then swap in the new ones. I did test fit them and they left tons of room for the starter, clutch slave and distance to the frame. You're right about where they'll dump, should be about level with the bottom of the block.

I got these because I've always hated the look of low hanging exhaust that's in the way and cluttering up the undercarriage. This time I want my exhaust tucked up tight and out of the way, I'll run a single set up down the driver side where there's tons of room (instead of snaking around the clocked up t-case).

I went with Doug's header's ceramic coated paid 350.oo for them lifetime warranty on coating and headers i believe. 2 years old have not changed any of the gaskets and there are no leaks. I had to trim the frame on the pass about a 1/4 to 1/2 and 2 inches long for one tube but if you run kirts motor mounts i think they would clear. You can see where it hit the heder and left a little crease this was from the motor bouncing down and flexing in the stock soft motor mounts. I think kirts would solve this problem i have not upgraded them yet.

If you check my build on the first page i have some pics of the motor and headers going in.

I've got Hedmans on my K30. No problems with them but not my choice if money isn't an object.

I'd look at the L&L Products headers. They do make them for GM and Dodge. Best thing I like about theirs is the 1/2" thick flange at the heads and 3/8" thick flange at the collector. They're nickel coated, too.
Never tried them yet but they would be next on my list.

you may have just found my sb header... thanks... never heard of these guys... i have to maintain my AIR.....

Those look great. do you know others that run them. Just wondered how their experience is with them as far as fitment goes.
I contacted them about the BBC set w/ nickel coat.

Hey John, what part # did you use for that set?

Have you guys noticed a good bang for your buck with BBC headers? I"ll be doing my exhaust soon so this may be the time to upgrage. I looked at the L &L headers and may consider those.

BBC headers are way overpriced. Sales volume must be much lower than SBC headers. If price was not an option, I would go Stan's stainless steel Tri-Y headers. http://www.stans-headers.com/gm_headers.htm Too bad they cost $1200 :eek1:

I also want to convert my engine to run on home brew, which would require stainless steel exhaust. Maybe when I'm rich.

Good bang for your buck:
