Beag's 67 Chevelle. Supercharged Summer

Very ironic, just got an email from hot rod saying they canceled all the reservations and we'll have to rebook.

That's cool they are still doing it and giving you more time to finish. Second kid on the way? Congrats!
They have hotels you use that are tied to the event? I'm assuming that's how they cancel reservations that people currently had.

With all these kids we now know why the Chevelle is getting built and not the truck.
Congratulations

... Good thinking. I think an engine swap is in order :burnout:

Vote 1 for the phat block:thumb:

At face value it gives me more time to finish, but I booked a solo autocross event on June 20th.. haven't heard if that's a go or not yet....

Thanks!

The hotels I had were booked through hot rod. So since they were tied to us. they even they cancelled for us.

This much is true, but I'm still probably building the wrong vehicle. The Studebaker lark wagon photobombing the pictures needs the supercharged 3.8 v6/4L60E swap finished. :rotfl:
On a second note the 489 BBC for the white thing has had major updatable progress, but I haven't updated the thread.

Thanks the second kid is exciting. Let the record show I ordered my suspension before I got my wife pregnant. Because, you know. Priorities.

My plan for this car is to cut weight. So it will never have a fat block. I have the c10 for that.

Hoping for a boy although my little girl does help me now.

Looks like all SCCA stuff through May is postponed. No comments on June or July.
Looks like they are waiting for the group number restrictions to ease.

I have a grand daughter due in mid July lol. And I've already informed my kid and his gf that she'll be 4wheelin and working on trucks with Grandpa :waytogo:.

My youngest Kaz's favorite thing to do in the shop is DRIVE my trucks.... (Get in and mess with the wheel and any knob or button he can find) lol.

Pregnant women do crazy things!
Right? I have been working a deal on a IROC Z 88 Camaro for awhile now. I've been hiding that little nugget from @79rustyk10. The guy isn't quite ready to sell but very close. I need to put the screws to him I think.

If that one doesn't work out I found a Stepside in the weeds that I probably need. Lol!

Around this time my buddy texted me and said hey, you got that velle done? I got mine out of winter storage. Let's go for a ride.

It's a '66 300 deluxe. Full ridetech coilover suspension.

Anyway, after I pulled the headers back off I needed to weld the bung for the the O2 sensor for the EFI. And I did what all the cool kids are doing and welded v bands on.
After the v bands they will dump into a set of flex couplers.

Don't mind the picture to much I need to clean them up. They were still warm from welding.

For anyone interested- I've cut, welded, fabricated literally tons of stainless steel from my days as a welder. And the stuff these summit headers are made out of, it's good stuff. They list them as 304, but don't kid yourself, not all steel is the same.
With the amount of fab I've done I can tell a good quality stainless when I work it. Would buy these again.

Congrats on the kid!

Awesome on the v bands too. I was going to suggest that when I saw those floating collector rings, glad you did it anyway.

And stop buying cars so you can finish the vehicles you have! ha ha
Thanks!

I just don't know that I could do headers without a ceramic coating. I just think of all the radiant heat off of uncoated headers, especially in a car engine bay. Am I just being ignorant? :dunno:

To answer your question without being a smartass. Would I like coated headers, yes. I will probably coat these someday.
Do I need them? No. To say you would be worried about the heat from headers. Muscle cars have been driving around for 50 years with uncoated headers with way more hp then my little mild small block has. I think your way overthinking it.

The last set of headers I ran were mild steel. I got them used, had them sandblasted, then gave them two coats of VHT flame proof silver paint. 5 years later they still looked decent, and I never worried about underhood temps. Bare cast iron manifolds give off plenty of heat too, and nobody worries about those.
