Beag's 67 Chevelle. Supercharged Summer

After I got the rear end in primer I went to the farm and barn store to buy some paint. What flavor do you want? John Deere? Case IH, Oliver, or maybe Minneapolis Moline?

I chose to not go with black and picked out a Massey Ferguson gray. Supposed to be a dark charcoal like gray.
Should be good enough... Got home and fired up the HVLP.

When it dryed it came out to a light grey almost the same color as a primer color.
Was not a fan. So back to the farm and fleet to get a bit of black.
I tossed a little bit of black in the grey until it looked good and reshot it.

Much better. Call that a day.

While I was running around repainting stuff I had dropped off the driveshaft at my new favorite driveshaft shop.
When I pulled the shaft I noticed that the weld on the rear was less then desirable looking. And that the shaft had a washer on end and two on the other.
I'm no driveshaft balancing expert by any means but I didn't care for that. So I found a place with decent reviews and gave it a whirl.

The place I found was Elkhorn driveshaft, in Elkhorn, Wis.
I dropped it off and they were very up front and straight with me.
So they told me it was shorted up at one time and since it was a swedged shaft, most likely the end yolk probably wasn't the press fit it needed. And hence the ugly weld. They honestly told me that there was no reason to mess with it if ran fine. (Which I insisted it did)
None the less I told them to put it on the balancer and see if it's in spec. And toss in some fresh u joints. And if it didn't balance then we would address it from there. I told them I was in absolutely no rush as knew it would be probably two weeks before I would need it.
Got a call at 11 the next day stating it was done. Picked it up and I talked to the main shop fella and he said it was one of the best swedged shafts he's ever seen. Basically perfectly balanced. Ok, then I guess piece of mind is worth alot sometimes. It had a fresh set neapco joints in it and I was set.
I've always been a believer that there is always local skilled and honest business's around. Not everything needs be to sent over the internet (so to speak.)

When I got it home I cleaned it and painted it @Truckman4life favorite orange.

Looking good Brian!

So i hear a bit of a debate with that 10 bolt.

My opinion throw any kind of traction aid in it. Even if you don’t want to keep it forever. Autocross would suck with a open rear end.

Plus If it even has enough power for a burn out...

You don’t want any pics of a one wheel peel! :doah:

There's no debate on my side of the coin.
maybe on the other.
No traction aid. No locker. No Lincoln's or Miller's coming to visit.
I'm flat out of money.
I absolutely refuse to put money that I don't have, into a ten bolt.
I get all the points,I understand all the advantages.
And having a nice locker is in the plan. But it's the 9in or Dana 60 plan. Not the 10 bolt plan.

Just the way it is really. I can't do it all at once.

A open diff will work just fine for the summer. As most likely any sort of autocross event will be cancelled anyways.

Ok.

I’m happy watching it go together with any plan you have for it! I get the no more money....

So with the news that the driveshaft had been shortened it got me thinking. I bet it was shorted because that's not the original transmission. So I ran the date/casting codes on the trans. Came back as a 1970 M21 built on January 15th.
I had figured it was an m21. But never bothered checking it out before. It looked like this car was a 3 speed car that they swapped. also has a Lakewood bell housing on it or so it appears.

Unfortunately I'm just out of funds, and I still need to buy some things. Should have have spent differently sure, but it's always going to be should've, could've, would've type of thing. I bought some things I didn't need. But sometimes you just want what you want. :pimp1:

I think you said you bought tires? Did you get wheels too!?

New wheels. No tires yet. Still looking at what I want to run. I have it narrowed down to a few options.
Yesterday I woke up to two flat tires on my STS-V. It looks like someone lost a whole box of nails or something and I ended up having to replace a tire. Of course the Bridgestones I had on that car are discontinued. My OCD kicked in about having mismatched tires on the front so I ended up replacing both fronts.
This is what I chose.
If I like them I just might by a set for this car.

Drop in a mini spool...super cheap, and no "one tire fire". Or, just tell everyone you de-tuned the shit out of you car and it won't spin the tires anymore.

Those look good. Are they Bridgstones too? I’ve liked any stones I’ve had, good luck with the ones I had with them.

Aren’t they like 30 bucks in the states? I thought the same thing.
All good! I’m just happy I poked Brian enough to give us pics and updates! :waytogo:

Yes they are, these are the bridgestone potenzas that replaced the potenza series I had.
I really like them. They are probably a bit on the soft side for a heavy caddy thou.

Yeah I know you can buy an eBay spool for 40 bucks. But that kinda falls into one of those things of, is that what I want? Guess I feel like I would better off with a limited slip in this car. More of a safety item. In case I got caught in the rain with the family. I wouldn't want to deal with that. And those are about $550 for an 8.2 10b.
My white stepside? No fu ks given about that. I would totally eBay a spool for that. I wouldn't have my whole brood with me.
