BENDER stays in hibernation with me

Showing off my "mud socks" from yesterday :D New winch switch worked great except I'll have to work out another switch AT the winch. Needing someone inside the cab to spool it up, while I feed it, is now a must and it sucks.

bad ass!

There is a car here that would go perfect with Bender, Its a older purple Nissan Maxima that is missing a headlight, and for about 6 months there was tape on the trunk lid spelling out "Leela"
That car is also missing a door, Its not relevant, but interesting, there just was no passenger rear door for the last year or so.

Also, this might be a few pages late, but how much paint did that take to do the truck? Because I plan on making mine blue again, with a white top and cab.

I put two coats on and still have enough to paint a third plus my full doors if so inclined. This was out of a gallon from Home Depot

did you make the tire carrier and rear bumber? truck looks good, makes me want to be home to work on mine now ha

Nah, I don't have the means or room to bend tube. The rear is a BlazinOffroad bumper, the front is a copy of the same. The tire carrier was made by the same local shop that did my cage. Thanks for the complement :waytogo:

Rig looks awesome Brent. Man you have been busy. I miss those days of wrenching on my truck. Hopefully soon.

Great rig. Saw your Hells Revenge vids on you tube and hoped you had a build thread on here. Glad I found it.......nice work

haha thanks!
I get random people saying they saw it in X video and want to look closer. Mostly folks only care about the doors and dash :doah::haha:

I like the whole package, You've done a lot of good work. I may steal a few of your ideas. I have a bunch of parts gathering, up hope to get started soon.

I had a plug like on the winch itself mounted on the dash of my XJ. I would plug it in and could run it from the drivers seat or walk all the way to the winch and still control it. If there was a real need I could still plug it into the winch itself. Came in handy and I didn't need to dig around in the mud as much and could easily control it from the drivers seat.

Something like this............

That's brilliant. How many times have I wished for just such a thing. Too bad it can't actuate the clutch lever from inside the cab too. Unless you have one of those Warn Zeon Platinums...

My winch has the 5 or 6 pin plug. So thanks for the link but :( no worky.

I tried to use the wireless controller from Harbor Freight. While it looks the same, it doesn't fit on the winch easily. It also didn't work once I got the plug on. Figured I'd give it a try but I'm not changing anything to make it work.

Smells like teen spirit paint!! :D

Rustoleum to the rescue! Was lucky enough to have a couple friends free on Sunday, so Bender gets paint :D Foam roller and foam brushed that beatch. Sanded down the rough spots and sticker pin striping, hit with primer spray can, and rolled it. 3 coats, no time for sanding, demolition of warehouse interior scheduled Tuesday :doah:Still gotta do my full doors, but that's easy. The tube doors will stay the darker grey. I like the contrast of the darker grey stuff to the lighter grey :thumb:

I'll rate it a........25-40ft paint job :D:woot:(depending on light)

I know you posted it someplace but I cant find it now, what exact paint was this? Looks great. Going to do mine in either this or one of the rustoleum greens.

I went ahead and bought a gallon, probably used ~65% if I had also done the doors. Cut with a foam brush and roll with foam cigar roller.

Small update

Just kind of using the thing. I need to get started on the OBA system, unfortunately if there is work to be done....it's going to be on the '68. :doah:

Took her out on Friday after checking the fluids and drivetrain bolts. Finally got my cousin to come out with me. He probably hasn't been offroading in 15 years, even though he has a really nice K20/30. It was way cool to see him enjoying it again. :thumb:

Got MAJOR pinstriping now:haha:I can't help it, I like ATV trails and don't know how to back up :D I did get tagged by a hillside though, got a shallow dent :(

Even after twisting the truck up in Moab without problem, I somehow managed to pull the driveshaft apart on a rock climb on Friday. I think the passenger side just completely dropped + the tire pulled it forward + I was sliding backwards. Was REALLY surprised. Though, truthfully, I never got the shaft lengthened after clocking the transfer case, so it was probably a bit short. :doah:Luckily the splines aren't hurt. Not sure if a longer slip is in order or just lengthening it 1". A longer slip would set me up for the future :D

You know a 4x4 gets used when it's tires look like....

Also managed to turn my ORD HD 3/8" wall tierod into a frowny face. :( But truck still drove great the 80 miles home, at speeds of 70-75 :D I might measure my toe again to check. If it's in just a little too much, I'll turn one of the rod ends out to compensate.
