Bertha, picking up where Shewheeler left off.

Those headers are awesome.
When does the computer come in? I want to come back by and make bumpity noises.

That finish is :pimp: Im scared of messing it up.

Got a package from Pac Fab yesterday. Im in house mode and git ready to take the monkey on an epic trip in the Woohoodilly so I prolly wont get it back in this week :D

That's quick and dirty?

Martin

That's exactly what I was thinking Martin!

I wish my "quick and dirty" fab work looked 1/1000th as good!!

I call bs. Quick and dirty does not include drilling speed holes and dimpling them.

It can only be considered quick and dirty if it was a piece you already had made and laying around

Quick and dirty maybe because there is no kickdown for his Trans ??

Im a tool maker by trade. Part of the problem that comes along with that is with most things I make everything has a number. Everything has a place and you know exactly where things are. Lots of math n figgrin stuff out.

Quick n dirty is no math, no figgrin, starting with a card board template cut from the Lokar throttle cable packaging.Sitting with my girl at the kitchen table with a piece of sheet metal,a scale,a scribe, dividers, and an automatic center punch. Cut it out, make some holes, n bend stuff. I only have maybe 30 minutes in it :haha:

And yes, no kickdown. I just need to be able to move it. Later I will cut the arm off the throttle body, move it 180,and make a new bracket.

The throttle cable looks pimp, but your kitchen needs some work. :D

Thanks :thumb:

Ok fine! This is the view out the kitchen door, accross my crappy little shop, and out the door that goes to the side of the house where Bertha sleeps.

Better :D ?

Zero progress in the past few weeks :dunno:

But I did make an eBay purchase last night :D

All the new to Bertha sheet metal (and some other stuff ) I got from Ryan was off a 79 diesel. The fender emblems are unique, hard to find, and one was broken. I have been looking on eBay off and on for a loong time and two finally popped up. I have one on the way to me :woot:

Not much. But Im excited about it lol:haha:

How much of a difference in visibility do those hoods really make? I've always been kind of curious.

Martin

Hey, you turned it around too. Got the other side done I see. Hood is neat. I still have the whole cab If you want the rest of the trim to complete around the cab and doors.

Ugh! Im just dieing to see that truck rip across the dunes!

I would be happy with just a trip up and down the street :haha:

Nice hood! :thumb:

Looks damn good!

Thanks :thumb:

From the drivers seat it looks like a lot. Depending how you measure it a stock hood at the front and in the middle is 4.5ish. The dropped center one is maybe 1.25.

Yea,I had to turn it around to do the other side  I am so over not having room to work on stuff. My house is almost done so the end of this BS here is near.

Im gonna wait til I ruin the cab to change it out. But the new business I have for her will be a little less abusive and a little less opportunity for disaster I hope :D

Me too! I just keep making trips to the dunes without him.:popcorn:

Dunes and Jawbone are going to be shake down runs for Bertha in preparation for my ultimate goal for her in late 2015 :pimp:

I have a dream

This build gets better every time I see it. Really gets me thinking about what to do with my former dd when I rework it this winter.

I have an ls motor, I have some springs like what you used up front, saw a stepside bed on craigslist today:whistle::thinking:

Doubt I go for the stepside but I may seriously steal some of your ideas. Id also like one of your "quick and dirty" throttle brackets if you have any extras:D

Got a question about the cam though. I looked on pac fab's website and they show an "ultra 4" cam, is that the one you used or was it something custom? And does pac fab offer the computer tune to operate such a cam? I really want the lumpy sound as there will really be nothing practical about my truck so it may as well sound cool but I know very little about the fi mods. Was considering building a 350 or swapping my ls to a carb but after having fi I really don't want to go back to a carb.

If you still need a throttle cable bracket when I take that one off I will mail it to you :D

Thats the cam I have. And I think I remember Kevin saying he tweaked it a little. So if you wanted one just like it you can call him and ask for the FRIZZLEFRY cam :thumb:

I talked to Kevin a while back and he said they were going to start tuning in house. But my ECM has a factory tune. It will absolutely need a dyno tune once I get it together enough to get on a dyno. I can start it and move it around but there is no way I could really drive it.

Well the chaos that has been my life since last May is diminishing, the shop is slowly getting back in order, and I'm getting ready to get ready to git back at it with Bertha.

To occupy my time while I couldn't work on Bertha, I built a Jeep and bought another Jeep that came with a trailer.
