Bertha, picking up where Shewheeler left off.

I only have room in my life for one major project, so I gave away a loved one last weekend :frown1:

The shop is the least cluttered it has been this year :pimp:

I got new poly body mounts installed a few months ago in preparation for where I'm at now. The truck is sitting on six stands, and the frame is as flat and level as its gonna get. Its time for tube :pimp:

And my new cheaper, less destructive, more realistic goal for Bertha ... rally or rallycross :thumb:

Still go fast in the dirt, but significantly lower entry fees, less wear and tear, and less opportunity for disaster :D

Well I started making parts after work yesterday. And with any luck I will be doing a little bending and notching today :pimp:

Didn't quite get as far as I wanted to last time I posted. I couldn't bend tube because my compressor still had a clothes dryer type plug on it and I don't have a dryer in my garage any more (WOOHOO!!) lol.

Ryan and Avery came by this afternoon. I fired Bertha up for Ryan and Avery took a video of the bumpity bumpity...and then Ryan got rid of that video to take a video of Avery riding around on my monkeys Green Machine :haha:

How's that for an update :woot:

The beginning of the end. The rear end that is :D

I need the bed sides hanging in something so I can get rid of the stock bed crossmembers. Got the rear bed side mounting in the works, and next is the front so I can start making a home for the fuel cell.

The boss/truck owner came home and asked why I did this and that,if the design would still be able to utilize the tail gate, and will the tires fly out on sweet jumps.

I told her not to worry because this is just the beginning :pimp:

Love it!!!!

But this confuses me. Are you talking your wife? Or does someone else own this?

Probably :haha:

Though my wife gets enjoyment watching me be creative and make something out of an old truck, she could give two ****s about this thing.

Its the monkey that wants to know what makes this thing tick and how to make it go :D

She wanted to notch tube because she thought the smoke was cool :thumb:

It's hers.

He's still around. He didn't love Bertha and treated her bad. So I gave it to his sister for her 6th birthday :D

Looks awesome! What's the plan for the fuel cell? Running foam inside of it? How are you setting up the plumbing to push fuel to the 5.3?

(planning a similar step in my build in a few months ..)

I recovered it! We can forgive Ryan... :D
