Bertha, picking up where Shewheeler left off.

Awesome build! Very excited to see this as it moves along. Great job :waytogo:

At second glance - any chance you could get detailed photos of how the front bumper mounts both below and through the grille?

If I remember when Im outside today :waytogo:

I put the boy to work on a rainy day project yesterday. Got the ORD crossmember installed and 2wd box on the frame. I gotta cut down the drag link and weld in the inserts and it will be good to go.

We drove by last night going to a Christmas dinner and I looked down your street but didn't see anything. Figured you gave up because of the rain, glad to see ya' put him to work. :)

How'd the ORD crossmember go in? I'm afraid I might have to go that route someday due to clearance issues.

Yea.Gave up about 3:30.

I had the factory one out in about 10 minutes and it took Michael about 3 hours to get the new one in :haha: He probably could have made it to church with you guys yesterday but he didnt get up til 11 to help finish up

The install is easy and pretty straight forward. And you will need a 90deg. drill to drill the holes in the frame.

I need a straight drag link. The one I have is a standard one for a 4ish" lift. I rotated it flat so as not to put the drag link ends at funny angles so we can run it for now.

At the right angle it looks like there is no steering :D

If I didnt have so much family stuff going on this weekend I would be bangin out some front shock hoops and an engine cage right now :xmas:

Very cool! When do we get to see this truck with sky under the tires?

Back from the dead :D

Here is what has been going on since I last posted

I gave the truck to my son.

He beat it and drove it like a jackass.

He tore it up and junked the motor.

He tossed me the keys Christmas eve eve and said it made a noise going down the freeway and that it didnt run right .

No oil, nothing in the radiator, and zero compression in #3 and #5.

And with that I put it on my trailer to await cutting it up to get my .06 cents per pound at Clovis Recycling :sign19:

Hows that for an update :what:

seriously? I hope you gave him a well deserved phucking up that involved plenty of foot to ass. Don't scrap that truck. That would be a terrible shame

Well how much fun could I really have cutting it up :D

Here is just a word of advise. If you dont want to come up with all kinds of dumb ways to spend lots of money, stay away from desert racing :haha:

After much talk with Kevin and Jason at Pacific Fabrication I decided that rather than cut my losses with this thing and cut it up, chucking some more cash at this project would be a way better idea :haha:

So the plan in the works right now,

Pacific Fabrication-
5.3 w/cam package.
PCM and custom harness.
Conversion motor mounts.
Complete fuel system.

From Kevin,I picked up a pair of Dynomax 9" race bullet mufflers he had laying around to make it stupid loud and a sweet used set of Baja MTZ 35-12.5-17s to replace the 37SSRs.

The long tube headers I am going to try and make work showed up today and a 31 gallon fuel cell is the next thing sitting in my Summit shopping cart :D

In my spare time (and theirs),Jason and Kevin walked me through cam swap and valetrain upgrade. And this is it sitting in the engine building room at Pac Fab waiting for me to finish it up and bring it home :D

Wow what a flip of the coin, from scrapping to probably a $5k+ LS swap.

My only thing is your kid blew it up, he should be the one to fix it and pay for it. I guarantee you next time he'll take much better care of it and appreciate it more.

I like the way you think! My stepson did something similar and after 2 years of mowing lawns, doing odd jobs and scrounging he eventually paid my wife and I back. He has learned the value of work, a dollar and how important it is to take care of his stuff.

Always wondered what happened to Cheryl's truck. Didn't realize the answers here the whole time.
