Bertha, picking up where Shewheeler left off.

Wow what a flip of the coin, from scrapping to probably a $5k+ LS swap.

My only thing is your kid blew it up, he should be the one to fix it and pay for it. I guarantee you next time he'll take much better care of it and appreciate it more.

Before he junked the motor I was getting ready to take it back from him anyway. He did nothing but complain about the truck . I already wanted to cut it up and set it on fire before the engine went because of what a sore subject it had become.

Now its a what I have always sort of wanted in a desert truck build :D

The boys punishment will be watching me bomb around in a bad ass 400+ HP truck that he will never get behind the wheel of again :doah:

Ok,enough of that...

I didnt realize until last week that Im kinda anal about good wiring. Because nothing can f*uck you harder and faster at the most inopportune time than horrible wiring.

This truck has (had) a ton of creative wiring done to it since it left the factory in 1977. I took every bit of non factory wiring out of the cab shortly after I got it and now its the engine bays turn. Every bit of non essential wire is going in the trash :D

I spent a few minutes a day this week gutting all the HVAC garbage and cutting out wire. Im going to make covers for the big holes and weld up every single empty screw hole in the firewall :D

I have not used my Lincoln SP100 in 10+ years. And as much as I used to hate this machine,Im glad I never have sold it.Loaded up with some .023 wire and 75/25 its the shiz when its time for body sheet metal work :pimp:

Get it Frizz!!!

Everything you lay your hands on ends up looking like fine art. Your lightbars, bumpers and skid plates are crisp and beautifully rendered.

Can't wait to see how this one evolves.....

Exactly why I still have kept my little hobart 140! Load with .023 and go to town on sheetmetal.

Also, and you may have thought of this or been joking, but at least give someone on here an opportunity to carry on with this truck before you scrap it!

Thank you sir. That means a lot :thumb:

The creative juices are flowing on this thing again and I have a bunch of cool stuff planned :D

I hope not to disappoint :pimp:

Go back and read from post #51 to here :haha:

This thing aint going anywhere!

My girl turns 6 tomorrow at 4:45pm and I told her I am giving it to her for her birthday :pimp:

She just looked at me and said "Im pretty sure I can drive it Dada" :woot:

So I gave the motor out of Bertha to Avery4jc to make a coffee table out of or something, but if it wasnt complete garbage we talked about fixing it and selling it.

Heavy scoring on #3 and #5 that a .030" oversize bore probably wouldnt take care of makes it a coffee table :haha:

Some MIA head gasket between #3 and #5 also.

So my little Lincoln SP100 did what it does best today and welded up some holes :D

I rough finished the spots I welded and cut stuff and shot it with a little primer. I still have some welding to do and some Bondo but this is the progress today .

And a little 110v welder tech :sign28:

I did this because I got tired of the cord getting messed up. Being able to unplug the power cord is nice.

And the absolute key to your happiness with your 110v welder when running off an extention cord is to make an extension cord for it like this :pimp:
The hot leg goes to one terminal, and the common is tied into the ground.

So standing back and looking at todays meager 20 minutes of progress I started thinking all retarded n stuff...more retarded than my idea to move the motor back a foot retarded :haha:

How silly would it be to go run a desert race in my DD :sign9:

My dumb thought of the day is to build this to the NORRA rule book and go run a race :pimp:

Anyways,I know all you hear is blah blah blah unless a pic is posted so here.

Todays progress.Plugged holes,a rough grind,primer,and dumb thoughts :D

Do it! I'll come help chop the firewall apart so there's no turning back.

That's a whole lot of stuff that's got to happen. Go faster

To go faster I would need to work less and, start pulling money out of my back side, get people to be more generous when shoving $$ in my G string, or wait for my money tree to start producing :haha:

Where did Mr. "don't mess with moving the motor back and just get it running" go?

:pimp:

I just confirmed that I'm still on to button up the motor and and pick up everything at Pac Fab Saturday morning.

We have about 3 hours of work left on the motor and then its all coming home :woot:
