Bertha, picking up where Shewheeler left off.

Really? I figured with a tension shackle you would be able to squeeze alot more than 12" out of it, mainly on droop.

Everything looks great regardless. And FYI the sound of that motor makes my pants fit funny. Such a killer idle.

Hard to see in the pics, but how close are you to inverting that shackle? Maybe worthwhile adding a stop to keep it from going over? It looks somewhat close at full droop, but I'm thinking if it articulates one way or the other it'll drag that shackle a little more...

I could get a few more inches of droop, but Deaver said to limit it at 12".

It's a stock height 52" spring. I'm happy with 12". It's not a trophy truck and with that amount of travel it will keep me from driving it like one.

TMI and that idle is my ringtone :D

It's still got a little bit to go before it would invert. And the shackle almost his the hanger at full droop. I did think about making a positive stop though.

I could put a limit strap on the shackle :D

12 is not bad, and dueling I really think part of our issue is the oem rear hangar does not allow the shackle to drop level with the ground which limits the droop some.. But really it might only be an inch or so.. I was playing around with my leafs and saw the same thing, it has diminished returns. All I did see was a longer shackle delayed when the spring rate came into play vs a short shackle.. For my build I'm going to have as short a shackle as I can without hurting anything because I do not want a very sloppy ride, let the springs do the work.

I see what your saying, hence the angle and extension. Sorry I didn't get that at first. Still 12 inches with your good shocks will make it work great without being sloppy. It should handle really nice!

The Ford guys put a delrin bushing at the shackle pivot point to get rid of the deflection that the longer shackle will give. I will machine some at some point.

It will ride great, you got shocks that will allow for that.

I was just hoping to see some higher numbers being you bought deavers and im pulling 11.5" out of a compression shackle and stock ford 57s. I however need way more shock to handle the weight of the rear of my rig.

I got Deavers because I wanted a bolt in 52" custom spring. And I went with 52"s because I'm cheap and lazy.

Sorry to dissapoint lol :flipoff7:

Today's progress.

Made three different patterns so far. Three different link lengths using what the rod end would allow, screwed most the way in, +.5, and +1.0 on the legnth. Made three different arcs per link length with a Sharpie. One at bump, one at rideish height, and one at droop. The spot where all three best line up tells you how long the link needs to be and where to mount it.

I will mess with it a bit more to try to get closer perfection but I'm close to having it figured out.

There will be no true perfection, but if it's within +/-.06" at the three measurement points I will be happy.

Dude thanks for posting this! I like the setup your building, for a spring over that's the best setup with the least compromises.

Should have gone with schedule 80... 40 might not like a hit from a rock or a hard landing when we air it out...

Gobble gobble... happy turkey day.

Needs to be UHMW tube instead of PVC if you want to be in the cool kids club. PVC link skids are SOOOOOOOOOO last decade :surepal:
