Best can of Brake cleaner?

That's basically ethylene but I don't see that on the can I have. http://www.sigmaaldrich.com/catalog/product/sial/246654?lang=en&region=US

Isopropyl alcohol works wonders also for final cleaning, good for using prior to lock tite and such, and cheap.

Non chlorinated for all those who don't know relating to welding.
Chlorine residue when heated becomes phosgene gas. Deadly.

Good info

I've heard about the phosgene gas potential...

It appears without exception, every case ever reported was due to welding near un evaporated chlorinated products such as brake cleaner...

I can tell you I've done a crap load of mig welding on brake cleaned parts, with out any Ill effects.

Personally, I like using a spray can vs a can of acetone or bottle of rubbing alcohol for degreasing parts or thread's just for the convenience of it.

Depending on the project I either weld in my 2 car garage with the door open or in my driveway.

Using non chlorinated brake cleaner is good advice for welding prep, I've just never encountered a situation personally where there was a issue welding over brake cleaned parts that had no standing un evaporated liquid on them.

Peace.

Put the alcohol in a spray bottle.

The green CRC has Mehanol in addition and is a dollar cheaper.

The-gunk brand a has xylenes in it as well as Acetone,Heptains and CO2.

Quite the variety.

Piece brother just a conversation.

As far as using spray bottles go I've found without the aerosol propellent it doesn't clean, clear out blind threaded holes for me very well. Even following up with an blow gun, run off my air compressor.

And I've litterly had parts fall off my hogs that I used non chlorinated brake cleaners on, that when redone with the chlorinated version never vibrated lose again.

I'm no chemist, but I use what has worked for me & I'd pay $20 a can or more for the red crc brake clean because I've found nothing that works better for what Ive used it for and if its at AutoZone, O'Reillys or Napa I've tried it.

I'm always open to trying something new, cheaper is good but I throw frugality out the window when it comes to something that could leave me stranded, far from tow trucks.
