Best Ratchet ever made?

Heres a pic of the snappy swivel I use.

I have the same one without a nylon handle. Boy you got to watch the pinch point at the head on that thing big time. Have had a couple blood blisters from it.

Yeah for sure! Mine doesn't have the nylon either, but they don't make the all metal handle anymore.

That's it, it's all over. You just made the first step to becoming a quality tool junkie like the rest of us. :eek1:

So, when you get it, post up your honest opinion.

OK...got to use it today installing the flexplate cover and a couple of bumper bolts...and the firewall peg at the rear right of the hood that keeps it from cutting your head off..

Pros
  • It's very, very smooth and I was able to "ratchet" in a confined area with less space.
  • It feels heavier in the hand than the Craftsman and feel better in your hand
  • The sockets and extensions fit very snug and don't wobble
  • Being chrome, it is easy to clean
  • It really sounds great

Cons
  • It is so tight right now that it is hard to toggle the "on" "off" toggle
  • The sockets fit so snug that I had to use a screw driver to get an open end wrench socket off of it
  • I spend a lot of time staring at it saying Wow..I can't believe I got a Snap-On

Lucky for you, you're truck is going back together and all you really need is the "on" selection.

A few years ago i found a old John deere 1/2 in. thats over built maybe look at one of those dumb pawn shops...

Can't get the sockets off? I guess you need one ratchet per socket then... [emoji106]

Just need to use it and break it in...sockets no problem but that open ended wrench socket...I couldn't pull it off.

That's called a "crows foot." I have a sh!tty set from Northern Tool and a 1/2" through 1" set in 12 point from Snap-on. Stupid expensive. Needed a few of them for one job. Once. :doah:

They come in handy for sure when you really need them but they sit in my tool box at work and don't need them very often. 12 point will get you in really tight spots

I have a couple with tight detents too. With a flash of oil on them there's zero chance of socket removal. I don't even try. I have a pair of side cutters handy and they pop them off like nothing

Had to buy the 12 pointers to take off a forrest of steel hydraulic lines. The twelvers on a shorty ratchet gave me prolly 45° of swing as opposed to impossible with a wrench.

Got a nice partial set of vintage Snap On 6-point sockets in mint condition for next to nothing...but I am missing the 2 most common, 7/16 and 9/16

Those are not vintage. Nothing wrong with them, but they are not old.

yes..ebay...I thought the double scribe was older stuff...but I am new to Snap-On

oh boy, join the 143,000 of us watching auctions....... :doah: :haha:

tho, I'm not watching much at the moment myself... was hunting 1/2 drive metric impacts recently tho...

about 14% of snappy auctions are a good deal in the end.. sometimes hunting individual stuff to complete a set like a 9/16ths or 10 mm wrench can beat ya up a bit.. gotta be patient and make a list...

Before I say how much I paid for the 5 sockets, what is the average price of a Snap On chrome 6 point mint

I have some sockets at work like that and I got them in about 2001 or 2002. Don't know if they still make them like that or not.
