Best Ratchet ever made?

I have some sockets at work like that and I got them in about 2001 or 2002. Don't know if they still make them like that or not.

Those scribe marks are a great place for grease to hide probably...but I like the look...and man...they are the heaviest sockets I have ever owned...I hope that translates to strength

They must have a lot of vanadium in them or something. I've always thought that cheap cast steel sockets felt lighter than good quality ones like Snap Ons do.

Before I say how much I paid for the 5 sockets, what is the average price of a Snap On chrome 6 point mint

you may very well have paid $5 to 20... I've gotten insane deals on stuff that just kinda slips thru the cracks.. but full set buying is often at a premium, just for convenience sake...

mixed hodgepodge lot's can be great for the beginner.. but completing those sets can be a chore for a full-time wrench.. and full sets are often the best choice..

especially when trying to match socket era's, print, etc....

I've been hunting a new snappy 3050 air hammer for a while now.. just waiting for the right deal to come up when I have some spare coin....

got the whole set for $15.99....that's about $3 per socket...I felt like it was a pretty good deal...even though it was missing some common ones

That was a good buy. There will be a single digit number cast into the socket. Find it and post the picture. That will tell you the age of the socket.

That is so cool!!! Mine are 1976 sockets

Dang that's older than me! :haha: Made a lot better too I'm sure...

Thanks for posting that chart. I never knew about that.

So according to that chart, the ones I mentioned were made in 1999. That's slightly newer.

I think I did pretty good last year from a Snap-on truck that was at a local car show I attended. I bought the PH3050B air hammer (I was told it is a one year only as it has a rubber isolator boot built onto the hammer) and it came with the PHG1005AK bit set for $300 out the door.

yup, that's good with the bit set... :waytogo:

my medium duty has seen better days, it's like 25+ yr's old... but I don't use it nearly as much in recent yr's as opposed to when I was doing tons of bodywork, so upgrading isn't a huge priority...

I don't need any bits, I already own like 50 or 60.... I see lightly used 3050's go on eghey for $125 on a good day... just need to pull the trigger...

Anyone else ever have troubles with there Snap On air hammer? Mine is over ten years old, but I've had problems with it since it was new. I tried to have it repaired (under warranty), but they didn't fix anything. It doesn't always want to go when you pull the trigger. Have to hold it pointing up in the air, and then keep it running. Kind of a pain in the ass.

my old smaller one was flawless for decades.. it's been getting a bit sporadic lately, but I can't blame the tool, I tend to run my air tools on some cr@ppy air and I'm sure it takes it's toll over time..

I've heard the 3050's have some serious snot, thus my interest in the upgrade...

I don't remember the number on mine, but it was the biggest one they made a decade ago.
