I love it! I am over 50 now so it makes me bones shake much much less!! hehehe
The Wheelset is built by me. When I had the busted shoulder from the trail tacos, I learned how to lace a wheelset. This set on my Tallboy is the second set I have built. I used WTB KOM Tough i29 rims, Sapim Force spokes & nips. Hubs sealed bearing hubs made by Bitix from BikeHubStore dot com. << cheep alternative to big name hubs with the same technology, rear at 52P.O.E.
Good choice! That's one thing I have always wanted to learn how to do

Its 27.5, part of me wants to get carbon hoops
doooo it..

Tell me about it. Dumb parts I don't need stuff that nice though. Have an xt on the way
Id have a very tough time going from xtr to xt ( I think theres a small jump in quality and price from slx to xt but a huge jump from xt to xtr but that's my opinion).. but I get it that stuff isn't cheap!

New bike day! Yah I know its not a sweet downhill bike.. but for some reason I love a good fat bike. Sold my cannondale fat caad 2 and bought this Trek Farley 9.8 with HED big half deal carbon 27.5 wheelset

Thanks! Depends a lot on how much psi you are running.. higher psi youll be bouncing like a ball lol. Its a blast to ride especially in the snow

Do the bigger tires add pedaling resistance? Ive seen more and more of these fat stress tires around

Up in the tahoe area this weekend..started riding the tahoe rim trail from kingsbury and destroyed my derailer and got to pump the trail home. I think my wheel flexed and my bent derailer finally got caught, sucked my chain down in-between the gears and spokes. Can't wait to come back.

That derailer hanger salvagable or is that incoming also?

Oh yes for sure! Whether you can notice it depends on the terrain in my opinion. On pavement- yup lol. On single track.. maybe- I find myself going faster in the corners, sandy area and even up and down hill because you don't have to pick a line.. lol you just roll over everything! Probably wouldn't take it on downhill sections though...

My kid and I both took 7th for the event. For the series she finished 5th in Pro (in the $$$) and I finished 4th Expert 50+. And she did not beat any of my segments but that day will come....

Also our team took 1st in the team comp for the 3rd year in a row.

Some pictures are surfacing, here is one of the old fat guy -
