Black Betty, Rock Crawlin Trail Truck Build !!!FOR SALE!!

Its amazing how bad a TH400 works when its over a gallon low on fluid... :D

Hahahahahahahahahhaha....

Guess who just drove that biach in the back yard! booshakeeshaw!
My brother thought the same thing the 1st time we tried to drive his m-37. Then realized the tranny was way low! Awesome to hear that you got to drive it......jealous :o

Glad to hear it was something quick and easy to fix! I wired up my electric fan yesterday and couldn't figure out why it didn't work........................then I put the fuse in. :doah:

well heres what I got done...

5125 Bilsteins 14+ inches of travel...

Found out my new body mounts were holding water and modified the cup washers with some drain holes. I think this is why our trucks rot out at the body mounts. Something to consider if you havn't allready done this.

The 52" spring swap. Using a hole saw on your frame is NOT fun. The runout on the bits is horrible and its a violent process. A plasma woulda been nice to have. Also welded up the other 2" hole in the frame with the slug from the new holes. Got the springs and longer shackles in. She should flex out nice now.
No after shot here just the template I made and the old hole.

Modified my F250 shock towers but didn't to much but weld them back together..

Then after some hicups with the tranny and not having enough fluid in it I got to putt around the back yard with the truck. The rear pinion angle is horrible but ive got new perches to fix that. The brake pedal goes all the way to the floor but it stops good. Heres the classic poser shots but it was nice to have the truck in a change of scenery...

That's a midget truck to go with the midget welder :haha:

I mean, with those pizza cutters for rollers, you might have had to do some winching to get it down off that dirtpile :haha:

More usefully, I assume you bent the shock towers in so as to clear the inner fenders, wheel wells, whatever you wanna call 'em? I got the newer cast towers, which are great, but are not tweakable the way those are ... and I had to notch the well where the shock went up.

They're bent to clear the steering shaft. I'm still gonna have to cut some of the inner fender for the shock to fit through.

Holy crap! I take it you're mounting the shock on top of the axle? Well, maybe with those tall-as-the-midget :D shocks, you could mount them in the stock holders and STILL need that much room... wow.

I really didn't take any measurements cause I dont have a way to flex the truck out right now, I'm just going off what others have done. And yes the shock mount will be on top of the axle. DIY4X D60 tabs.

Was looking back at the a bomb did the lower bolts not go in from the bottom up i dont see them installed in the pics.
Also what winch are you planning on running and how does it mount on there it does not look like there is a plate to mount it to just the rollers.
Im getting one so looking fro more info how close does it come to the valance and is there anything you would of changed on it. Im looking at getting a front reciver installed.

Kert tries to orient the winches foot-forward whenever possible. It's easier on the winch and once you get up into the ~12,000 pound range it's actually required. More than one M12000 has ripped itself apart from being mounted foot-down.

so the winch mounts vertical in stead of horizontal, have not seen any pics besides this one of the a bomb or a winch mounted on kirts bumper center im asuming they are the same.

Yep, you got it. The 4 bolts that normally hold the winch "down" now hold the winch onto the forward "wall" of the bumper center. It's just a stronger way to do it. You're putting the stresses encountered directly into the winch case in a compressive manner rather than having it act like a big lever.

Bas A$$ truck man! Love the A bomb so much, I just ordered one yesterday. Great build man, would love to see that thing in person.
