Blazer bash 2008 MOAB!!

what sould i do to my truck to get it ready? like a front locker, steering
Make everything mechanically sound. Don't show up with things leaking or something you know is going to break. Simple things like replacing u-joints, etc. There are trails for all levels and people running all of them, so you won't be alone.

Also come along with the CO Crew on a few runs. :wink1:

Oh yeah, and have front AND rear recovery/tow hooks. At least somewhere to hook on that isn't going to trash someone's nice recovery strap or winch line.

If I were choosing a place to stay I for the first timer I would select a place that was close to all of the rest of the attendees.
It sounds like The Slickrock is going to get most of the people. It's a good camp ground and not really that bad.
The Slickrock and Motel 6 deal date back to the first Blazer bashes and were choosen because you can stumble between them if you have a few too many drinks at night. As time has gone on a few have moved to other campgrounds etc. but these two places seem to be the hub of activity.

It takes all of 10 to 15 minutes to travel from one extreme end of moab to the other so proximity is not all that bad and if you want to drink there are usually no problems finding drivers that don't drink.

That was my entire selection criteria. lol
I plan on stumbling alot.

how scary are the showers at slickrock??

You'll want to wear shoes while showering. Or you can just stand on the cigarette butts to keep from actually touching the floor with your bare feet.

Good fuel system that runs on angles, good brakes that will stay good, do normal maintenance stuff before the trip like check and pack bearings, grease, go over bolts and nuts. Check the u-joints out and bring spares, axle shafts are a good idea. Most of the stuff there will be chevy so a lot of people will have spare parts and there are a few auto parts stores in town to get parts.

Tow points are a must. Go over your cooling system.

You get incredible traction on most of the slickrock.

and like has already been said there are trails that stockers can go on that have some great views and you will be amazed what your vehicle can do. Also you will be surrounded by a lot of really good people!

If you have any spare parts, bring them all, I busted my starter last year, and had one sitting in my garage at home. I also bent my rear shaft, but since I drove there, I had to get one made, and there is only 1 place in moab that builds driveshafts, and they don't have a balancer. Make sure you have a good credit card if you need a driveshaft made...

Did you go to six states for the d-shaft? Im sure they have a balancer.

Count me in as "maybe". I don't plan on bringing my bashed up rig but I might go as Jason4x4's passenger. You'll know the deaf guy is really coming when you hear me trying to blend in mixed conversations over the CB. That'll make for a confusing weekend :D

Unless my new rig gets done in time then I may drive it to Moab.

Nope, I went to the 4x4 outpost, I think, that is on the south end of town, I talked to several people there, and they said he was the only one that could build a driveshaft.

I don't know anything but knowing what I have found from other similiar events that go to the BLM permit they end up charging in the ball park of $80 per rig and sometimes $5 to $10 per person beyond the driver.

Once agian I am not the official word but this is what I have found looking into other events.
