This year Blazer Bash is going to be a 4 day event!
This will be the 10th anniversary of the event and we wanted to do something special. In addition to adding a 4th day, you will see some other new things listed for Friday.
You may be wondering, "What are the parking lot activities on Friday at AreaBFE?" Well, let me tell you. This idea is modeled after a local club event I recently attended. From 9AM to 1PM (the times may be adjusted a little either before or at the event) there will be hosted activities in the lower parking lot of AreaBFE.
Some may choose to try out some of the trails AreaBFE has to offer. We will be offering a guided run on Minor Threat or you can do your own thing. If you plan to hit up one of the other trails in a self-guided fashion, be sure to post up in the forums so others will have a chance to jump in.
You may also notice the "driving clinic" listed on Friday. Offroad Design owner Stephen Watson will lead this clinic. He is a Petersen's 4Wheel & Offroad Ultimate Adventure veteran, Ultra4 class racing driver, and King of the Hammers veteran. Not to mention the numerous years of recreational offroad driving Stephen has done. The purpose of the clinic will be to provide instruction and encouragement for people new to wheeling in Moab and/or new to offroad driving in general. Participants will use a Moab area trail to learn techniques like the "Moab bump", controlling suspension bounce on obstacles, and running on hills - or "fins" as they are commonly referred to in the Moab region. Many other topics will be covered as well. There will be a limit on the number of people that can sign up.
There will be strict vehicle requirements for Pritchett Canyon and the Trifecta (aka: Golden Spike). As well as a limit on the number of vehicles permitted on those runs. The vehicle requirements will be posted in the future in a thread dedicated to listing all vehicle requirements and recommendations.
I know there has been much discussion about vehicle inspections and I don't want anyone to be run off by them. Put as simply as I can, the inspection process will be focused on helping people have a successful trail run not banning people from the trails. The idea is to make sure there aren't any potential pitfalls on your vehicle that you may have missed. We'll get a fresh set of eyes to look your rig over and try to keep you from having a bad day on the trail. It really stinks to make a huge investment to come to Moab only to have the experience ruined by something you could have fixed quickly before hitting the trail. We will post all of the recommendations and just a few requirements in a separate thread to be coming in the near future. I have it on good authority that we will likely have a little prize for each of those that participate in the vehicle inspection process.
Everything else is pretty much business as usual. I hope to have registration open by the end of April, but we all know how that can go. I wanted to get this information out right away so that people could hopefully plan to be there for an extra day.
