Yep, some snowy roost can certainly be fun. We'll have to start figurin' out if there are any indiana boys left on here and hook up with them in the middle ground.

you thinkin' a spring run somewhere? I don't like haulin' my junk on salt:eek1:...just sayin':thumb:

Yeah, car wash then haul home on a salty road 10 miles...wtf?
let me know though.

So today the 205 came out the rest of the way. You'd think after leaking for the last year, the damn thing would be low enough that you could drop the case without much spillage. Boy, was I ever wrong. I got the full gear lube bath.

Quick recap, 2010 Blazer Bash, one of the issues with Veronica, was the bolts that hold the 205 to the doubler would loosen and the gear lube would leak. It was persistent and unsolvable at the time. It was kinda the last straw and prompted us to quit wheeling that day.

Why they would loosen is still somewhat of a mystery. The solution will be to loc tite the bolts or perhaps studs and then we're gona try these washers from fastenal. I have no experience with them but from what I understand they are supposed to hold very well. They have sort of a ratcheting teeth inbetween the pair of washers.

Anybody ever used them?

Beyond that, it'd be safety wiring the bolts which was considered but I'll try this first.

Fan shroud is finished and only thing left for the cooling system is an overflow tank and some new radiator hoses. Got a couple custom over flows to build and hope to do them all at the same time.

I had a hour-glass 205 that would come loose all the time I ended up putting Loctited studs in and using nylock nuts, problem solved.

I used locktite on my double stuff because of your problems last year Kert....as you know at least those didn't leak, just the trans/t/c adapter leaked....still gotta fix that.
but I think red locktite will do the trick.

They work good, we use them in the mine.

My combination of locking devices should do the trick then. That's reassuring. Thanks guys.

Did your bolts come loose or just a leak? Ya know, with all the together and back apart you had going, i'm impressed it only leaked the very little it did. I think I would have gotten careless and caused leaks during reassembly.

The doubler stuff is leak free right now, but the adapter leaks where it bolts to the trans...I used RTV, as i ran out of gaskets with all the dis-assembly I had going on there, and must have missed something....one more time FTW right?

Yep, and I'd bet you don't need to do it under pressure this time.

I think the standard now is to use studs, I have had studs in the 205 with a nut and standard lock washer for 8 years and a lot abuse and don't have leaks.

Those lock washers will do the trick but might be spending $where it doesn't need to be spent. Use right stuff and studs.

Definitely gona do the studs. Might be a pain for the lower most bolt hole. Got a crossmember right there which I think I can mod just a little bit to make that work.

Washers were under a buck a piece so for that, i'll give 'em a try.

Got some new shock absorbers on the way and the appropriate hardware for the tcase should be here on Thursday.

Hopefully this weekend, we can address a couple issues with the engine and fire it back up again. Lookin' forward to hearing Veronica's sultry voice.:D

she never was much of a screamer was she?
