Sometimes a better way to un-stick a needle valve than beating on the carb is to use a pair of vise grips or pliers to clamp the rubber fuel line hose shut near the carb, and start the engine,or try too, until it runs out of gas--then unclamp the vise grips and start it again--usually the incoming rush of fuel will help dislodge the peice of gunk holding the needle open ..I have driven home a badly flooding carb by using the vise grips to squeeze the fuel line near,y shut,so it cant get enough gas thru it to let it flood--it wont want to run GOOD ,but you may be able to nurse it home that way..
Ah good trick youve taught. Never thought of that.
