Blazer picking practice-Pics of possible blazer

The price.

Martin
I think Martin may have signed off, so I will spoil the surprise. First, it's a 1988 truck. That means it has a 5-digit odometer. The seller lists it as having only 15,000 miles. And he's selling it for $8k. And it is really pretty clean.

However ...

If you look carefully, you will notice a few flaws:

1. The floor mats on the drivers side. Floor mats mean the carpets are worn and he doesn't want you to see that.

2. The drivers door upholstery under the pull handle is very worn.

3. The passenger side door is missing the pull handle end cap/cover.

4. The open tailgate shows MANY scratches and scrapes on the inside, clearly from many years of use.

5. How old is that spare tire? With "only 15k miles" it should be brand new. Right?

6. The under hood shot that shows the brake master cylinder shows clear leakage on the side. 15k mile vehicles don't leak like that. In addition, while it's hard to really see under the hood, the air intake has a small rust spot forming. That generally only happens after many, many years of driving.

Therefore, this truck - like every other K5 that I have seen that lists "only" xx,xxx miles, is a 115k mile truck. The wear and tear from daily usage gives it away EASILY.

It's worth MAYBE $5k, or $6k if the engine/tranny are in tip-top condition, are brand new, or were rebuilt in the last 10k miles.

Clever seller.

Oh man I missed a lot. I did notice the odometer though haha! See this is why buying a blazer worries me I need a lot of help picking things out that are wrong. And I'm terrible at pricing how do I learn to price correctly?

How does this one look?

It's hard to tell the pictures are bad i could ask for more. Would 2000 be a reasonable offer on this one?

I can't really see enough from those tiny pics to tell, but what I can see is (a) the hood is mis-aligned which suggests it has been in an accident and (b) the drivers door does not close all the way which reinforces that idea as it happens to be on the same side. However, sagging doors are common, so it could be nothing.

I would have to see a lot more photos.

Personally, I won't buy a truck without the sliding rear windows either, as they kind of suck if you have anyone in the back. It gets way too hot on even nice normal days...

He's sending me more pictures tonight, would 2 grand be a good offer if the interior, engine, and the other various mechanical parts work haha?
