Blazer values keep skyrocketing...

Huh? Ok he didn't say his price was directly from auction results but when he makes the comparison he's doing the same thing.

yeah but that's just the dude trying to make a sale. He thinks he's going to come up on a good profit with that ad. You and I see right through it but some rich sucker is going to give him a call and pick it up at full price, i think.

Gonna advise the crawlabago crowd to up their insured value.
Look at this slide in pop up price

All kidding aside, I probably need to get mine appraised. But the camper you referenced is typical in the "overland" world. Price out any camper similar to one of those. They are all nuts. Even new Four Wheel Campers range from $20,000 for a regular slide-in to $30,000 for a flatbed model. Other campers like Camp X are in the same crazy price range. Since Overlanding is a cool thing to do these companies are cashing in. I don't see all of them surviving long term. You'll see the established ones stay like FWC, Phoenix, Hallmark.

The dude is just trying to make a sale by connecting what he saw on the auction and what he thinks he can get it. That's what so great about the free market. Price it too high and it's not going anywhere. Pricing classic cars is a tough business anyway so it's pretty common to make the comparisons. I've had a hard time at it for sure. I helped a guy sell his folk's 1956 Pontiac Wagon. I looked for any other similar cars for sale and didn't find much. The comparison to a '56 Chevy is easy because they are more similar than one would think, but there is enough differences to not make a direct comparison for pricing. There are far less Pontiac wagons left compared to the Chevy wagons. But rareness does not equal higher prices when the car isn't as popular as the more mainstream Chevy. I made a total SWAG on the price. Drove it into a National Street Rod Association show asking $15,000. Took one lap around the fairground, parked in a less than desired place for traffic. Despite the parking spot I had many looking at it hard. Within an hour I had a cash offer at $10,000. The guy I was helping was cool with the price. Sold it. Was I too high on the price? Probably. Had a lot of tire kickers, but the guy that bought it was serious and showed me the cash. It proved to me the saying it's worth what somebody is willing to pay. What one guy is willing to pay is different than another. Finding that guy is the challenge.

So here's the rub. A really nice one goes through BAT for $85,000 and the seller of this K5 thinks by that logic his is worth $32,000.

'70 K5

His details from the ad:

There is no basis of the idea that a freshly restored '70 went through an auction site then his HAS to be worth $32k. It's a crock. It looks solid no doubt, but it's not reaching restored values.
85k...are you serious?

In the last year I have been asked twice to put a price on mine. {I would not do it.}While I am pretty sure it is worth more than the actual cash I have in it I really cannot see selling it unless some one offers me stupid money for it.
Mine will be going to my daughter in my will.

Funny you should say that, I have got quite a few classic/special interest cars and trucks but all three of my kids want the same one. Not sure yet how that is gonna work out.

Now you have my curiosity up, which one do they want?

My daughter would whip the two boys. They would be laughing too hard and they know I would put the hurts to them if my little girl got hurt. I'm planning on throwing another one in the mix tomorrow {car not kid}, maybe that will shake things up.

Cool!

I had a guy make an offer on the Crawlabago at the gas station this morning. Lol.

I've seen him there on other mornings driving a Pinzgauer, FJ40 or TJ rubicon. He's a rad old dude for sure.

Was it a reasonable offer?
Honestly I didn't let him get to a number. I told him I'm finishing up the 8.1/5-speed swap. He was cool and understood.

I can't put a price on it. Financial, physical and mental investment in mine is huge plus I've made some great memories with it. It's everything I want in an adventure rig. Seeing how hard it is to find another Blazer camper for my buddy proves it would be even more expensive to get another one.

Well its to bad for the other two you don't have a will spliting everything up.

I get quite a few people who want my 1990,no body wants to give anything for it though, not interested in letting it go anyways
