Blazer's 68 Nova "Stephanie"

So update
Cleaned out the fuel line and gas tank.
Cleaned out the carb replaced the fuel filter.
stole the battery from the Dodge
got it running

Runs fine, carb still needs some work. Idles fine has no weird noises coming from it. Alternator charging 13.67 volts, has 60 psi of oil pressure.

The bad, has a popped freeze plug and of course it is the one that is right behind the motor mount. So I have to pull the motor in order to fix it.

decision
pull the motor all the way out, get rid of it.
Or just undo the mount lift motor up and try and put in a new freeze plug. Would have to undo the passenger side and the trans mount at the least.

Well ended up pulling the mount off, its solid so not that bad. When I did the freeze plug hit the ground too. Got some sealant and put it back in. Ran the car for about 1/2 an hour no leaks was not under pressure either that will be next.

I need to wire in a fan. Going to change the radiator before I do that though.

Got all my lights working, cant get the turn signals to work though. They go bright but no blink and no indicator on the dash. Guess I will pull the dash out and make sure the indicator lights work.

Autometer gauges do not have lights working in them either, not sure I ever wired them in so will have to look at that.

If it was the switch I would get nothing. No dash light indicators would make it not blink. The old ones need all the lights working in order to work.

Bought a street avenger carb for it it is only a 570 cfm which will work great on the 307 and be a little small for the 350. I have a 660 center squirter and a 750 to also choose from when I put the other motor in.

One day in the near future depending on how the money goes the Burb is getting FI so I will have that 750 also.

Put the new carb on runs fine need to adjust the choke but that is it.

got the rear disc's in tonight.

Have a competition engineering shock relocation bar bought it years ago. It sucks doesn't fit for squat. So instead of it just popping in and fitting fine I had to do some cutting and it still doesn't fit.

Front calipers are like $175.00, have a set they are not new or rebuilt so I will get them in and see what they are like.

Have an issue though not sure how to mount the front seats. Going to replace the floors. Going to do a cage a 10 point but it has not floor cross bars so not sure what to mount the seats too.

So some updates

Got a new radiator came with a fan. Did not end up using the fan because I have a Taurus fan instead.

Changed the heater core, what a pain in the butt. Ended up pulling the inner fender well because in in order to get the heater core back in you have to take the cover off the firewall that the fan mounts too. A bunch of the captured nuts were un-captured had to break out the torch.

I also had to mount a trans cooler because the new radiator did not have one in it at all. Ended up not using the one in the cool old box, turns out it wasn't the original one for the box one but I am keeping the box cuz it is cool. My father gave that to me years ago.

The fan is in still have to wire it in my thermo switch did not work. So I need to figure that out.

Picture of the rear discs. Still need to run some of the steel lines, and make tabs to hook the rubber ones too.

Couple of other things got a new battery for it, red top Optima.

Carb front accelerator pump has some issues, it sticks, no big deal I have like ten of them just rather weird it sticks hard like the lever will not compress it.

Got another Optima from work, some one cored it, cost me $12. It was dead but it took a charge. Just did not seem to work with my trickle charger. Going to try and use it on my generator, it needs a new battery.

A little update.
Got brakes on the front, new calipers, new rotors that are about 10 years old been carrying them around for that long.

Need a new hard line for the drivers front.

Got new rubber brake lines for the front too have not put them on yet.

Still need to figure out a shifter and do the hard lines for the rear brakes.

Keith, I've had that happen too with the acc pump, was gummed up from bad gas...had to pull the bowl, and clean out the pump circuit and squirter nozzles.

After sitting for that long, i'd get those rotors turned. They probably need it.

and "might as well" clean up things in the wheel well area, suspension, inner wheelwells, fender trim, frame, "might as well" pull the engine and detail it under the hood too!

Rotors should be OK had some surface rust in places but no big deal. They were brand new in the box and still in the box. Figure I will run them and see what happens.

Frame and suspension cleaning will happen when I figure out if I am keeping the stock frame or going to an aftermarket one. It needs basically all new suspension parts anyway, ball joints A-arms bushings, shocks. When I go that route I will figure out how far to the 1/4 mile side it is going.

The motor is as clean as it is getting. Its a 307, race motor is in the shop, BBC is still in the K30 if I go that direction.

Basically this is a get it running and driving so it moves and kind of be done for now.

After the Chevy-Dodge conversion is done. As well as Twinkie being done then it will be back on top.

Bought a Vette part today. Needed a master cylinder that was a disc/disc so got one from a 72 Vette no idea on how its going to fit but we will see.

Got the acc. pump cleaned out today works fine now.

Need to play with the idle adjustment a bit and the choke neither are working very good. Needs a tune up rather bad to so probably going to do all that at once. Start with the tune up.

Got the drivers side inner fender out. Now I can do some work on the electrical that is a bit of a mess because I took out the external regulated alternator years ago.

Going to try and do the master cylinder and brake lines tomorrow if the weather will cooperate.

Need to finish the brakes, figure out the rear shock mounts and find some seats. Then do some work on the fuel line put in the drive shaft figure out a shifter and should be good to go for awhile.
