Blazer's 85 Suburban "Twinkie"

Been looking a Twinkie for a bit decided to pull the trigger on a bit of a modification.

Much easier to get stuff in the back seat now. I can actually reach the first aid kit which is between the two back seats.

Next I may even pull out the third seat.

First picture is the before shot. When I built it I bringing all three of the kids so I wanted good keep their butts in the seats protection.

As some of you may recall did steering box frame mods. When put it back on I did nuts on the box side. Boxed the frame and sleeved the holes.

What do you mean “somehow”?
We all know the forces involved in breaking bolts. If they exist anywhere, it would be at the steering gear box mount area.

Got the box off, no biggy.
The top two bolts both sheered off at the same spot.
The two bolt that were left one was a grade 5 one a grade 8. The two that sheered were the same one a grade five the other a grade eight.

I think what the issue may be is the mounting spots for the box are not flush with the frame so going to fix that before the box goes back in.

Box is in.
Front driveshaft yokes are tightened
Pitman arm nut is tightened

It would seem that I need to do a better job of checking to make sure things are tight.
You can see where it was rubbing on the frame, black paint has transferred over

So the other issue that we had that was on Friday we were on a trail and it was way high up in the mountains and it decided to rain, sleet, hail, thunderstorm Etc. We got wet, we got muddy, but it was fun, cuz it was the wife and I. Definitely a memory we will not forget.

That being said the body mod is a definite going to happen.

So jack stand idea update, yeah did not really work when I put them under the Blazer. Worked great under my sons bug, guess the Blazer is to heavy. Not sure if I had a set locked, don't think so, because I did a 180 with it, but it would roll great until it had to go backwards. Ended up trying to push the Blazer with Twinkie, and it fell off the jack stands. So I will be ordering four of them from Beck.
