Body lift brands/kits to avoid?

(Rant on) Wow you guys really are turning into pirate aren't you. Bunch of bullies.

I read OP's opening post and knew this was going to happen. You guys should read it again.

He asked to please not debate the merits of body vs suspension lift as he was happy with the the suspension he currently has., and that he was not going to cut the body.

He also said he knew the required mods needed to add a body lift. Such as cable shifter for trans and t-case, electric fans, custom bumpers.

What's the problem with keeping to the question AS ASKED instead of picking him apart because he wishes to march to a different drummer. (Rant off)

Now to answer @urbex question. I've had 3 different style pucks, 3" octagonal aluminum, 3" round plastic, and 2.5" octagonal plastic. The round ones worked better for me. They were the same shape and size as the body mounts and plates, seamed to provide the best stability.

A few tips I've learned over the years.

Watch the steering coupler it will wear faster (jk steering shaft upgrade may help)
Be sure your body mounts are new or in great shape. (Soft mounts make it harder to line up the body well)
Use the largest diameter/thickest washers that will fit on the core support bolts on top, the bolt heads tend to pull through or distort the thinner metal there.
Lastly, watch the wires going from the firewall to the starter. Even if they have enough slack for the extra lift, they will sit differently and can get into the exhaust.

Good luck, and post up while doing the install with any questions. I'll be happy to help if I can.

wow!! a voice of reason from someone that actually took the time to read his post. :waytogo:

I believe the pics he posted were of a GM square body not of a Jeep.

for the record i read his post and gave the info requested in post #4 here . yes i admit i asked him a question and by then he was already getting mad . but hay oh well like he said he dont care to give specifics so o.k.

and this site has a list of around 1/2 to 3/4 dozen members who as of the last few months LOVE to derail / side track / pock there kind of twisted fun at others threads and the members .

frankly i am sick and tired of this . it NEVER use to be this bad around here . if you want to screw around go start your own threads and STOP mucking up threads . hell some of the threads on this site are post a pic type and there has been 1 or 2 maybe ever 3 pages of side track derailed b/s back and forth . other sites i have seen there threads for post a pic and there is TON'S of pics and the few cool pic / were is that / or nice job posted but atleast 2/3rd the page is pics not bull sh!t .

to be totally honest for a month or so i have been hanging out here less from the drama queens / trolls / pot sturing wenches as its draining on me to try and sift threw all the crap that has nothing to do with a thread . the other place i have been hanging has way more straight up pics / info / cool reading / less drama . i have been considering leaving here from all this negative vibe crap CK5 has not ever been this bad in all the years i have been here except for way way back in the early days with 2 members who got banned real quick . and i dont want to leave since i have so much of my life invested in this place .

and not to jab at the mods but were have all of you been ? some dont even show activity in years and yet no new members to replace them . ? ? ? other sites you see the mods a lot more even for little crap . the old days this was the norm for ck5 and this kind of thread here would have NOT got this far out of hand . ya i know you guys volunteer your time out of your life and things get busy in life but its been so lacking in public action that i dont even notice you members as mods when you post . the old days it was oh crap there is a mod now your just a member to me when i see you .

take this as my views / opinion and digest it for all its worth MEMBERS and MODS alike . i know i have backed off a bit here in the last month and even had private talks with members who feel the same as i do / mods agree with the few members list of problem makers / i have even talked with steve and i think most of us are on the same page here but no one is stepping up to the plate to correct the problem .

sorry if i ruffled any feathers but i have been holding this back and today was the day to let it out . sorry to the O.P. about pissing you off it was not meant that way , and sorry for this long post in your thread it was just time and since there is so many viewing it i figure why not .

in close again sorry to kick up the dirt / sorry to piss anyone off / but the old days of ck5 was a bit better and if you didnt like someones post you kept your mouth shut and didnt pick a fight with comments back and forth .

I'm glad you said that. That's what I was thinking

Just read through this thread, you guys are killing me. :doah: I don't think anybody minds if we disagree but lets try to refrain from personal attacks please.

I had the same reaction.
I do have one comment, I had a 3" body lift on my full size jeep wagoneer and even though it worked fine it was a little unstable, I found the 2" to be more stable.
If 2" is enough to clear go with them.
I am putting a 2" on my suburban
